Wei Wuxian's POV:

"Elder Patriarch." Smiling at Sizhui I gesture him to join me. "What are you doing here all by yourself?"

"Watching season change, Sizhui. It's going to snow soon." Do you still remember your promise, Lan Zhan?

"Hanguang-Jun's favourite season." His comment makes my heart yearn. "Yes, it was." He loved winter.

"Elder Patriarch, I-" placing a warm hand on his I smile, "It's almost time. Akio's soul is becoming stronger. Don't let Lan Zhan's death go in vain. I want you both to be happy. Remember Akio chose to follow you here. He sacrificed his time with Wang Yibo to be by your side. This procedure is not easy on him too, I know. Remember I once gave up my golden core? This is as painful as losing a core. He's healing to be with you. Live with him and live happily, alright?"

At my advice he nods and I close my eyes. Lan Zhan, are you happy where you are?

"Ah Yuan."

I smile. Finally.

We both turn towards a familiar voice and my heart blooms for the two young soulmates. Sizhui gasps and I whisper, "Go."
Watching Sizhui break Gusu's rule, he sprints towards the other and they lock in a warm embrace. Nothing could set them apart.

Akio is finally united with Sizhui.

Meeting Zewu-Jun's smiling face who was also witnessing their pure love gives me a small bow and I join him for a liesure stroll. "Thank you for nurturing him, Zewu-Jun. After what transpired 6 months ago, I-" turning to face me he shakes his head, "Wei Wuxian, please don't thank me. You and Wangji are my family. I had to help. Knowing that the soul whom you brought back is Sizhui's soulmate, how could I not help?" With a pause he continues, "I am more worried about you, Wei Wuxian. How are you?"

What do I say? Miserable? That my sole purpose of life is non existent?

"Surviving." Is all I could answer and he turns to look up at the darkening sky. "Have you thought of a way to get back your powers?"

His question pulls me back to that memory of 6 months ago where once we teleported back to Gusu Cave and I had just lost my Lan Zhan, in mere seconds my body burnt up. When I woke up the next day my powers were gone.
I, Wei Wuxian bacame a simple mortal and no longer the Yiling Patriarch our realm revered to. The core of Mo Xuan Yu within me was gone.

Shaking my head I take a deep sigh, "No and I don't want them either. Without Lan Zhan there is no use of me living in this world, Zewu-Jun. I stayed back only for them. My soul had made a promise to his brother, Wang Yibo, to unite and keep them safe. This Wei Wuxian has fulfilled his promise."

A moment of silence engulfs us and he enquires softly, "You're leaving us, aren't you?" I smile at his words. "There is nothing more for me here, Zewu-Jun. Though I would like to ask you one last favour."

"Please go ahead."

"Take care of Ah Yuan for me. He has lost Lan Zhan and now with me not being by his side, there might be times when he would break down, please take care of him and Akio. Love them like you loved Lan Zhan and me. Treat them as your own children. Please."

Placing both his warm hands on my shoulders, Zewu-Jun nods with an understanding, "Go. Be happy and don't worry about your kids, I am here for them. They are mine too."
