Hey everyone!! Thanks for reading and commenting! I hope you guys enjoy this next chapter!!
Also, Queen_Dez08 did a cover for my story A Singer And Her Bodyguard! If you guys haven't checked out that story yet, be sure to give a read!
Warning: things get dark in this chapter. So if you're not a fan of threats and guns, I would recommend skipping this chapter.
Another reminder that if you guys have great editing skills, it would be great if you could with me about making a cover for a one of my stories. That would be amazing. I promise full credit and a shoutout to you if you can. Thanks!!
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________She was running as fast as she could, dodging branches and tree limbs, jumping over logs, looking everywhere to catch a glimpse of David as she did.
Her heart was beating out of control, sweat had started to form, she felt her whole body was tense and she had the desire to kill.
Her mind played back the gunshot, the way that Max's body had fallen onto the ground. The way he had called her name and she could see the panic and fear in his eyes once he had fallen.
She ignored Josh calling after her as she could hear him in the distance. He was still a good ways behind, probably stopping every few seconds to look around and try to see if Maya or David was there.
Maya knew she wasn't too far behind him, she couldn't be. She had shot off after him almost immediately after he disappeared after she grabbed Josh's gun. Max had mentioned something earlier about there being shortcuts that he could take to get back to the house. This only made her run even faster in the direction of where the house was.
There was a clearing up ahead, and she could see the back gate. She got there and immediately started climbing, ignoring the stabbing pain she was feeling all over. She kept her tight grip on the gun as she fell to the other side of the gate and started making her way through the back.
The back door would obviously be locked, so Maya took the back end of the gun and swung it into the glass window of the door. Glass went everywhere, and some cut her hands as fresh blood started to pore, but she ignored it as she swept all the glass away and reached through the door to unlock it.
As soon as she was in the house, she brought the gun up, took it off safety and started carefully walking into the house. She was breathing hard from all the running that had done, gasping for air as she felt like a thousand knives were being shoved into her at once. She cautiously continued through the back hall, keeping the gun held out safely in front of her.
She heard the creaking of boards and she stopped. He was making his way up the stairs and to his office. Maya carefully rounded the corner and looked over the stairs. She started making her way up cautiously.
She could hear him rummaging around in his office already, she wondered if he knew she was in here. He had to. She wasn't quiet when she knocked the glass out. She wondered If he knew that Josh wasn't too far behind, and there was a possibility that he wouldn't be making it out of this alive.
As she walked down the hallway to where his office was, the door was already cracked open, and she could see him pacing around a bit, getting together whatever last minute items he was planning on taking with him to L.A.
Maya took a breath, and in one fast movement, she slammed the door of his office opened and brought her gun up to face him.
"FBI." She stated in a deadly tone. His back was facing hers as he had frozen once the door has slammed open. "Turn around." She said in the same deadly low tone. She heard a laugh as David's shoulders shook.
"Listen to you. Announcing yourself like I don't already know who you are." He teased. It only made Maya's blood boil. "FBI." He mocked.
"I said. Turn. Around." She said sternly. Pointing the gun right at his head.
"You going to shoot me, Maya?" He asked her. "I'm honestly shocked. There are bombs all over the city and yet you're here, trying to settle a personal debt." He stated.
"Is this some kind of joke to you?" Maya asked him. She moved the gun slightly to the side and shot it, making the bullet fly past his head and shoot out the window in front of him. He flinched a little, but other than that, didn't make any other moves. "Don't think for one second that I won't shoot your brains out all over these walls." She growled.
"Big words. I'd love to see you back them up." He told her. Before anything else was said, he turned around abruptly, catching Maya off guard and he knocked the gun out of her hands, causing it to go off and hit the desk.
He swung his arm around for a punch, but this time Maya was ready for him. She ducked down and came up with a punch of her own that landed right on his jaw. His head flew back in shock and Maya took it to her advantage as she brought her knee up and kneed him in the stomach, causing him to groan and fall to the floor. Maya walked over, picked up her gun and pointed it back at him.
"Not too tough when they decide to fight back, are you David?" She asked him with spite in her tone. He groaned as he rolled over from the ground and glared at her. Without any warning he took Maya's feet out from under her, grabbing the gun as it fell and pointing it at her now.
"Women need to learn their place in this world." He said.
"Go to hell." Maya kicked the gun back out of his hand, bringing her leg back around to kick him in the face. He yelled out in pain as he flew back and hit the desk from the kick to the nose.
Maya struggled to get up as she winced every time she moved. She really wasn't in good shape. And unfortunately, it seemed that David had realized that as he got up and kicked her again causing her to go down with a groan, he grabbed her gun and pointed it at her.
"You first." He growled, followed by a gunshot.
