Thanks for reading everyone! I hope you guys enjoy!!
Also, If there are any law students or people who know about court trials, please don't come for me. I tried to do the best I could as if this were an actual trail so I'm not entirely sure if everything in here is actuate and would actually happen if this is real.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________Even after her eventful night with Josh, Maya still found herself filled with nerves and Jitters the next morning. She was too nervous to eat anything, afraid that she wouldn't be able to keep anything in her stomach.
Josh had held her for a few minutes in the bathroom after she had gotten out of the shower. He tried to be as supportive as he could, but he didn't even try to tell her that everything was going to be okay. Everything was not okay. And they both knew it.
On the way to courthouse, the protesters started blocks down the street. Two different sides. People on the right protesting against the trial, people on the left protesting for it. Even though this kind of thing happened all the time, Maya was a little shocked to notice that there were actually people who saw through David's lies and believed her. Even though they were significantly less in size to the ones who didn't.
Everyone was going to be there, although the trial was not going to be televised. Of course the evidence would be in view for the public as it came out but they wanted to keep this as low key as possible... whoever's job that was surely dropped the ball.
"I just don't understand. This man put bombs all over the city and threatened to blow up a hospital. It was a terrorist attack and you guys stopped it! How can people be on his side!" Riley exclaimed as they entered the building.
"Oh they believe about the bombs. They just don't believe David was the one behind it." Farkle stated as he threw his arm over Maya's shoulders casually. Maya leaned into it, it had been a long time since she had the support of both her best friends by her side. She was going to savor it.
"Dont pay them any attention. Once this trial is over and all the evidance comes out, there is going to be a lot of people who owe Maya an apoloy." Lucas stated. He messed with the collar of his dress shirt, not used to being dressed up so formally. He hated court days. He always tried to get out of it with paper work, but he couldnt do that when it came to big cases he was involved in. And this is considered to be one of them.
"So what does this mean for Maya's carrer, though." Riley tried to whisper but Maya could hear her. It was hard not to when she was right next to her. "I mean, because she made the public apology and people know who she is and what she looks like. The protesters and people of the city arent going to forget this easliy. How will she be able to ever go back undercover?"
Simple answer: she wouldn't, or at least not in the states. She might be able to go undercover in a different country, but Riley was right, America was not bound to forgetting her face any time soon, if ever. This was the unspoken conversation that had been at the front of Maya's mind ever since she found out she was going to have to do the public apology. Josh hadnt brought it up either, and from the looks on Farkle and Lucas's faces, it was an unspoken fact between the two of them as well. As if she didnt know she would never be able to go undercover in the States again, and neither one of them wanted to be the ones to break the news to her.
But this wasnt something that Maya was very upset about. Sure, it limited her to what she could do if they ever had a case like this again. Next time she would find herself on the outside looking in. Rather it was Farkle or even Josh who went under next time. And even though she would rather be the one to go through this than any other member of her team, she wouldnt exactly be chomping at the bits to go undercover again for a really long time.
