It had been a long time since Maya had literally fallen asleep crying in Josh's arms. Ever since their college days really.

After she had got done crying the first time, Josh helped her stand and undress. He even helped her with her shower when it came to washing her back.

His eyes hardened at the bruises and cut marks all over her back. Her rib cage was just as black and blue as her cheek was and looked much more nasty.

Part of him really wished that Maya wasn't able to make the arrest on David, because then he could have, and God knows he probably wouldn't have let him live. But nevertheless, it was Maya's fight. And she deserved to finish it.

Once she was out of the shower, Josh helped her dress into some pajamas, in which it was extremely painful for her to raise or position her shoulder in anyway. And her emotions were getting the best of her again, causing her to collapse back into Josh's arms.

And he held her. There was nothing sexual about it, there was no motive to do anything more than just comfort her as he held her while they laid down on her couch. Never making it to the bed.

Now Josh was laying with his back on the couch while Maya laid half on top of him with her head nestled in the crook of his neck. Her arm lazily crossed over his torso as he had one arm around her waist, rubbing her back up and down gently with his nails. His other hand rubbing light circles on her arm that was thrown around him.

Josh was taking some vacation days trying to help Maya get settled, but he was really wondering what would happen once he went back to work. He was hoping that he wouldn't have to go on any far off jobs. Maybe he could put Lucas in charge as temporary team leader during those times, or even have Mia step back up since she used to be team leader before he came along. She would have the experience.

He was also thinking about his future with Maya and what this meant for them. How he was going to approach this with not only their teams but try saving both their jobs as well. He would happily transfer out if it meant Maya being happy and able to stay with her team.

He had other experiences being on other teams around the states. She didn't. This team was the only team she had ever been apart of, and it would be hard for her to build new relationships and trust with other people. And even if she did, there was no way it would even be half of what she has with the team that she has now.

Another issue is that Josh wouldn't be able to pick where he wanted to be transferred to. So for all he knew, he could end up back in London. And there would be no point in transferring for their relationship if they wouldn't be able to be together because he's half way across the world.

Maya shifted in her sleep, causing him to come out of his trance. He looked down at her as much as his position would allow. It was about three in the morning at the point. Maya had been asleep for a good part of the day already. The doctor said that would be normal though, her body was so physically exhausted she would be needing time to reboot basically.

Maya was still refusing the pain killers that the doctor prescribed her. Josh went ahead and took some home for her anyway because the doctor told him eventually the pain would become unbearable with physical therapy and she would be begging for them before it was over with.
