A couple of days later and Maya found herself standing right outside of the physical therapy center just right down the block from where headquarters was. She had her first appointment today and followed up with her first psychiatric evaluation.

To put it into basic terms. This was her first day of hell.

She also had to go in later to issue that public apology to the public on the news. Needless to say, she didn't want to get out of bed that morning. But if she wanted a job to come back to in three months, she didn't have a choice.

Josh had also gone into the office and started working in the unit again. Now that he and Maya were in a good place, he felt comfortable enough to leave her alone during the day until he got back in at night. Maya had promised him that she would be on her best behavior, go to all her appointments and take care of herself while he was working during the day.

The best part about it though was that she got to spend more time with Riley now. While Josh was working, Riley offered to be the one to drive Maya around to her appointments and help her when she needed it.

Josh had told the team that from now until Maya gets joins the team again, they were only taking local cases around New York instead of traveling out of state. Which none of them had a problem with.

So here she was. Riley had just dropped her off and told her she would be back in an hour to pick her up and take her to the bureau for her psychiatric evaluation. Maya nodded at her and told her to feel free to get stuck in traffic if she felt the need.

Maya opened the door to the office and walked to the front desk where the receptionist had just hung up the phone.

"Special Agent Maya Hunter. I'm here for my appointment." Maya told her. The lady looked at the computer and nodded her head.

"Dr. Wells will be expecting you. You can head in the door." The lady told her. Maya nodded her head and opened the door past the reception desk. It opened into a gym area. Where there were already people surrounded by doctors and specialists helping them out with whatever injury it was they had. Unbelievable. She found herself annoyed with the amount of people everywhere.

Maya looked for Doctor Wells. She had met him a few months back during her first appointment after Carrie's death and he had looked at her shoulder then. She spotted him in the back corner of the room.

"I thought these sessions were supposed to be private," Maya told him as she got closer to him.

"They will be. I have a back-office that we'll be working in." He told her. Maya sighed as she followed him through into the back office. He shut the door and asked to sit on the chair.

Maya sat down and stared at doctor Wells as he stared at her.

"What?" She asked.

"Where's your sling?" He asked her.

"What sling?" Maya asked him. Wells gave her a 'you're kidding me' look.

"The sling for your arm." He told her. "Where is it?" He asked.

"I don't have one," Maya told him. There was silence for a moment.

"And why not?" He asked. "Did the hospital not give you one?"

"They tried, but I didn't want it," Maya stated. Wells blinked at her.

"You- you didn't-"

"Want it." Maya finished. "No, I didn't." He blinked again.

"From now on you're wearing a sling." He said as he moved to a cabinet over on the wall.

"Doctor Wells, I'm not-"

"Don't you 'Doctor Wells' me! A sling goes a long way to help your shoulder. It keeps your arm in place and keeps you from moving it around. You can put all your weight on it, you're wearing a sling, Agent Hunter." He told her.

"Doctor Wells, I don't need-"

"Agent Hunter, must I remind you that in order to get back to work, you need my signature on a piece of paper handed personally to your boss that you're cleared and good to go. If you don't do what I say, you're never going to get that signature." Wells said. Maya sighed.

If Doctor Wells told Josh that the reason Maya wasn't passing her physical exams was all because she refused to wear a sling, he would have her in a sling faster than Wells could even get it out that she wasn't wearing one.

"I'll help you put it on after we're done," Wells said as he took a sling out of the cabinet and placed it on the counter. Maya sighed as she looked at it. "Now. I have prepared some light exercises to help strengthen your shoulder. It will be a bit painful, but I was told that the hospital subscribed you some pain meds to help out."

Maya inwardly groaned. If he was upset about the fact that she turned down an arm sling then he was just going to love this.

"Well, actually I-"

"I was looking over your chart from a few months ago." He interrupted. "It says that you had received therapy for your shoulder before. You might still have some scar tissue that didn't heal up properly from when you got stabbed. Hopefully, there isn't too much damage. Only time will tell."

"Doctors Wells, I-"

"They said that the surgery on your shoulder was successful as it could be under the circumstances. You need to pay better close attention to it for future events, Ms. Hunter. Because a shoulder injury like this could end your entire career as a Field Agent." He finished. Maya took a deep breath. "So ready to get started?" He asked her.

You know what, Maya didn't need to tell him that she had refused to take her meds. She had them in her apartment, so it wasn't like she refused to bring them home. So technically she wasn't lying when she said that she did have them. And if somehow Josh were to find out that her doctor thinks that she is taking them, she can just say that she tried to tell him. Which she did and he kept interrupting her. So really, this wasn't her fault.

"Yep. Ready to go." Maya told him. Doctor Wells nodded as he started to grab a few things from around the room to prepare for their first session.
