Hey y'all! I'm trying to update as much as I possibly can because it's summer and I have a lot of time on my hands but I also have a lot of things going on too. I have a few trips coming up that I won't be able to get on here and update. So I'm trying to do as much as I can.

Maya looked up at the restaurant that Josh had told her to come to and she shook her head. It was considered to be "their" restaurant. It was the place that they always went to and ate at when they were together. It wasn't very fancy but it wasn't too casual either. She should have known this would be the place that Josh told her to meet him at.

She looked at her phone and realized the she was five minutes late. She debated on just starting her car back up again and going home to prove a point to Josh, but she knew Josh. She knew he didn't bluff and she knew that he was even more stubborn than she was. She would be out of work for sure.

She sighed as she got out of the car and made her way into the place. She smiled at the waiter that was at his little booth as she walked past. She didn't have to look around for Josh to know exactly where he was seated. It's where he was always seated when they came together. In a little corner booth with a no window seat. The lighting wasn't very good and the bench kind of shook when you sat it, but they loved it because it was a nice quiet corner that they could be alone at. Josh looked up and smiled when he saw her come his way.

"I was beginning to think you wouldn't show." He said as he stood up and let her get in the booth first. She hesitated before sliding in.

"I was debating on rather I should." She admitted as he scooted in beside her and turned her way.

"I already ordered. Two chicken sandwiches with a side of fries, Mac and cheese with a pickle. Your's has the hot sauce coming with it." He told her. Maya couldn't help but smile.

"You remembered." She said impressed. Josh smiled at her.

"Of course I did. I remember every disgusting thing you eat." He told her as he made a sour face. Maya laughed.

"Oh come on. You would never try anything that I experimented with food." Maya told him. Josh nodded his head.

"Because everything you made looked like it would make my taste buds scream and my stomach throw up." He told her as he nudged her with his arm. Maya chuckled before looking up at him.

"So why the dinner. Besides the obvious trying to make things better between us personally." She told him. Josh sighed as he bit his lip and leaned back against the booth.

"I'm worried about you, Maya. I already told you that." He answered. Maya shook her head.

"Josh I'm fine. Look, some things I have to get through myself. If I rely on you or Riley to always help me when I fall then I'm never going to make it on my own." She said seriously.

"Yeah but Maya, you don't have to go through this by yourself. Everyone is hurting from Carries death not just you. What happened in that building wasn't your fault." He told her. Maya shook her head.

"You don't know that. You weren't there that day, Josh. Not even Farkle knows what happened in that building." Maya told him as she looked at him dead in the eye.

"Then tell me, Maya. Make me understand." Maya shook her head at him.

"Josh don't make me do this. I don't want to talk about it why can't you accept that!" She demanded in a whisper so she didn't disturb the other people around them having dinner.

"Because I'm worried about you! How many times do I have to say that before you believe me?" He asked her as he put his arm on the back on the booth and leaned to where his front was facing his side.

"Josh, please. I'm not asking you as an Agent, I'm asking you as a friend to please not make me talk about it." She asked him seriously. Josh looked her in the eyes before swallowing hard and leaning back in his seat.

"My cover got blown back in London." Josh said causing Maya to look at him with a side glance. "Everything was going fine until someone got suspicious. They decided to follow me on the day that I went and had a meeting with one of the men who had assigned me to this operation. What I didn't know is that they had placed a wire in my car when I wasn't there so they could hear everything that I say. They heard everything. What our goal was, how we were going to take them down and what we were going after." Josh kept staring at the table as he was talking. Maya bit her lip as she looked down and fiddled with her fingers.

"What happened?" She asked. Josh sighed.

"The next day I walked into the place that I was undercover at and I was greeted with a gun to my head. They told me what they had heard and how they had gotten suspicious about me. Turns out I'm not as good at acting as I am with busting down people's doors." Josh joked. Maya shrugged her shoulders.

"You had three years, seems to me that you did a pretty good job." She tried to cheer him up. Josh shrugged his shoulders.

"Not good enough to keep an eighteen year old kid from getting shot." Josh told her. "They were going to kill me. They had recruited the kid into their drug operation and put me in charge of teaching him. We grew a bond even outside of what we did. I met his family, told him about mine. He was a good kid, he just got caught up in the wrong crown. They told him to shoot me and he couldn't do it, so they turned and shot him instead. The distraction was enough for me to take them down. I tried to save him, but it was too late he had already lost too much blood. He died in my arms." Maya put an arm on Josh's shoulder and rubbed it.

"I was crying. I was crying while this kid was bleeding out on the floor. I had already called an ambulance but I knew it was too late, and so did he. His last words to me were, don't blame yourself, I would do it again." Josh's hands gripped into fists as he relived his experience.

"I'm so sorry, Josh." Maya told him. She knew how hard that had to have been for him. He couldn't stand when kids got involved with stuff like this. Josh shook his head before turning back to where he could look at her again.

"I didn't tell you that story to make you feel bad, Maya. I told you so that you could know that you're not alone. The way that you feel, the blame that you put on yourself. It's normal, and I just want you to realize that there are people you can talk to." Josh looked into her eyes for the first time since he started telling his story. Maya didn't say anything. The waiter brought over their food and gave them the check. He walked away leaving Josh and Maya back to their meal.

"Maybe one day." Maya replied as she cleared her throat and started eating her dinner. Josh sighed as he sat back and did the same with his food as well.

"Gees, Maya. It's even more disgusting than I remember." Josh told her as he made a face when she smothered her pickle with hot sauce and took a bite.

"Shut up. At least not you don't have to kiss me and I don't have to hear you complain about my breath." Maya said as she rolled her eyes at him. Josh nodded his head.

"That's about the only thing I haven't missed out of our relationship." He teased her. Maya smiled as she continued to eat her pickle.
