The last night in the hospital was a restless one for Maya. She had insisted that Josh go home and get a proper night of sleep since he had been sleeping on the chair the last two nights. And the only reason he agreed was so that he would be in good condition to take her home the next day.

Without anyone to keep her company except for the nurses who came in to check her vitals. Maya found herself not able to sleep very well. She wasn't able to toss and turn very much because of her injuries.

Then anytime she was actually able to drift off to sleep, one of the nurses came in and woke her up as protocol to make sure she didn't slip into a coma because of her concussion.

So needless to say, the next morning when Josh showed up at the hospital to pick her up, she wasn't a happy camper. She was tired and hungry, (as she hadn't eaten decently in three days) she was sore and her body ached all the time. She still refused to take any painkillers that the hospital had offered her, so even though the fact she was in pain was more her fault, she still took it upon herself to take it out on everyone else.

And on top of all that, she hadn't been able to stop thinking about the case. Michael, Max and Carrie had seemed to haunt her thoughts ever since she had woken up. She found herself thinking about what she could have done differently, asking herself all the 'what if's'.

She felt like she had an even bigger gaping hole in her heart from when she started the case. And now she had to go to trial and face it all over again. But she would. Anything to put David away. She wanted all this behind her, but then again she felt selfish and a little guilty. How could she put all of this behind her when there had been so many that lost their lives because of her?

Carrie had protected her in that building. If she had just listened to Carrie and kept cover under the table, then she wouldn't have gotten stabbed and Carrie wouldn't have gone off on her own.

Michael had confessed to David, he came clean about being a detective and being undercover this whole time, just so that she could continue on. He saved her life and he suffered because of it.

And Max, oh God, Max. He was so innocent in all of this. If there was anyone that should have survived this, it was him. He had gotten dragged into this whole thing. He had saved Maya's life, knowing what David would do to him. Maya had promised that she would save him, that she would get him out of this... and she couldn't even do that.

"Here are the discharge papers." The nurse said, breaking Maya out of her thoughts. Maya finished putting on her leather jacket with great difficulty because of how sore she was, and took the papers from the nurse. "Along with some instructions that the doctor has asked me to give you. Once you show this to your physical therapist at your work, he'll know just how to treat your shoulder." She said as she handed Maya a folded that had some papers in it.

Maya finished signing the discharge papers and handed them back to the nurse along with her clipboard. Maya took the folder with a slight look of disgust before grabbing her duffle bag that was on the floor.

Maya had gone through her bag this morning, hoping that there was a slight chance that Josh had left her car keys in her bag and she could just discharge herself and leave without him. But as always he was one step ahead of her and already snuck her keys out of her bag the night before, probably knowing that's what she would do.

"Your boyfriend is out in the hallway waiting for you to come out." The nurse stated. Maya snapped her head up at the lady, but instead of going down that road, she decided not to even try and correct her.
