Maya had never felt as exposed or vulnerable in her life. Here she was in the back of an ambulance by herself with two paramedics she had never met before, no cellphone, no gun, and no badge.

The kid, who looked like he may have been Max's age, was trying to treat her as best he could while his partner was up ahead driving. A little roughly, too.

Maya was fighting to stay awake as she was starting to finally feel the effects of what had been happening to her. The kid that was treating her had threatened to give her a shot of morpheme if she didn't calm down. That was the only way he had been able to get her to listen to him.

Maya was in no condition to fight him. She vaguely remembered him saying something about possible multiple broken ribs and some eternal bleeding. Another whisper about how irresponsible and stupid she was for not going to the hospital earlier. And if she was in a fully conscious state, she may have hit him for that one.

"Just hang in there, Agent. We're almost there." He told her from above as he was hooking her into an IV. Maya felt herself nod off until they rounded a sharp corner and she jolted back away, immediately groaning at the pain that it caused. "Are you out of your mind?!" The kid yelled to the front. "We have a Federal Agent back here! Calm down!" He yelled.

Maya looked over to the side and noticed a white bag peeking out from underneath some equipment that was stationed in the corner of the ambulance. She tried to get a closer look, but her vision blurred and she couldn't tell what it was. She tried to shake her head as if that would cause her vision to go back to normal.

"Agent, please you need to calm down. I don't want to have to give you that shot." The kid told her.

"What is that?" Maya asked him as she kept her blurred gaze on the bag. The kid glanced over at it, not long enough to tell what it was.

"Just medical equipment we're licensed to have it on here with us when we go on calls. In case we can't get to a hospital." He told her. Maya shook her head.

"No, no." She said. "The bag. The white stuff. What is it?" She asked him again. She couldn't seem to get most of her thoughts together. She felt like she was in a box struggling to get out. The pain was becoming too much, it was effecting her thinking.

"What bag?" He asked in confusion. He looked over again and finally saw the bag that was peeking out from under all the equipment. He walked over and started pulling things off of it.

"N-no." Maya wanted to yell, but it came out as a whisper. "You can't- don't touch-" she was growing frustrated with herself as she continued on fighting sleep. Trying to ignore the way her body was practically screaming at her to sleep.

"Oh my God." The kid whispered. He had moved all of the equipment off and looked to see that there were big bags of what looked like powder. But he and Maya both knew exactly what it was. "Oh my God." He repeated. He started to open what looked like a cooler that was beside the bags.

"Don't." Maya groaned out. "That- it- it might be the bomb." She told him. "Don't touch it." She stated. She started to get up from the gurney she was currently occupying. The kid snapped out of his trance and then immediately walked over towards her.

"Stop. Agent you can't-"

"Maya." She interrupted him.

"What?" He asked.

"You don't have to keep calling me Agent. Just call me Maya." She told him, forcing herself to fight through the pain. He swallowed hard.

"I'm Justin." He introduced himself. Maya nodded. She was immediately reminded of Max.

"You've got to help me." She told him. She started to try and rip the IV out of her arm but he stopped her.

"You can't do that." He scolded her lightly. "Ripping an IV out of your arm can be dangerous."

"Then you do it. Trust me, when this ambulance stops, I'm going to need to be on my feet." She told him.

"Maya, your injuries are probably worse than I know, I can't let you-"

"Justin. I need you to listen to me." She cut him off. "Did you know that the anthrax was on your ambulance?" She asked him.

"No." He immediately answered.

"Does your partner have any relations with a man named David Smith?" Maya asked him. Justin looked confused.

"He-he's good friends with him. He tried to help and donate to his foundation as much as he can. He's been to his house a few times." Justin said. Maya groaned and nodded her head.

She should have suspected that David would have a back up plan in case he had gotten caught. She couldn't believe she had been so blind about it earlier. No wonder the guy wouldn't let her see his face as he got into the ambulance to drive. Maya wondered if she had seen him before over at David's.

"Okay, listen to me. David Smith was arrested this afternoon for sex trafficking, murder, and terrorist attacks on New York. He's the man that created the Widower, he's the one that planted bombs all over the city and he issued the anthrax attack. Your partner has been helping him. That's why the anthrax is here on this ambulance. We're heading to the hospital, right?" Maya asked. Justin looked like she had been a ghost talking to him, his face was pale and he looked a little green. He nodded his head slowly. "Alright, then that means he's targeting the hospital and the main entrance of the city." She stated.

"But- but Simon wouldn't do something like that. He's got a wife and kids." Justin stated. Maya narrowed her eyebrows.

"You have to listen to me-"

The ambulance jolted to a sudden stop, cutting Maya off. She looked up and noticed the fear in Justin's eyes. They must have just made it to the hospital. Maya looked around for something, anything that she could use as a weapon. She quickly covered the anthrax back up with the equipment so it couldn't be seen and grabbed one of the shots of morphine that was sitting beside her that Justin was ready to use at any moment on her.

The doors or the ambulance opened, and suddenly Maya knew that it wouldn't matter if she had a gun in her hand instead of a shot. She was screwed.

In front of her was Simon. The Simon. The other of the big three that David had considered to be in his inner circle.
