Maya walked into her apartment and hung the keys on the hook. She placed her gun and badge down on the small table that was by the door before hanging up her coat as well. She walked into her bedroom and started changing into more comfortable clothes. She had so much on her mind that it was starting to give her anxiety about tomorrow.

Tomorrow at noon, she would be face to face with the people that killed her partner, her mentor. And somehow she would have to find the strength to befriend them, call them family. The mere thought of it disgusted her, but she knew that if she was ever going to get revenge for Carrie then she would have to do it.

Maya sat down on her couch in the living room with the case file in her hand, she only had a few more hours to prepare for what was to come. She could feel the anxiety get worse and worse with every passing minute. Even though she wouldn't admit it to just anyone, she was scared for her life.

Maya was so into the file that the knocking on her door made her jump in the air. She looked at the time and narrowed her eyebrows at who would be knocking on her door at eleven at night. Maya closed the file and got up from the couch to see who it was. As she got to the door, she grabbed her gun and peeped through the door. She sighed and put the gun down as she saw that it was only Josh.

"What are you doing here?" She asked him as she opened the door and let him in. Josh walked into the apartment with his hands shoved into his pockets. After Maya closed and locked the door back to turn around and see a look of concern mixed with doubt.

"I just wanted to check on you, see how you were before tomorrow. Figured that's what a good team leader does." Maya could feel a twitch at the corners of her mouth.

"Yeah it is, but I've never known one to show up at my apartment before." She teased him. Josh didnt smile though. He just looked at the ground. Maya rolled her eyes. "Josh, we've been over this before. I'll be fine. I'm well prepped and its not like I haven't been undercover before." Maya assured him. Josh looked up at her and gave her a half smile.

"How are you really doing?" He asked her. Maya scoffed.

"What kind of question is that?" She asked him.

"The kind you ask someone who is obviously masking what she truly feels to make the others around her feel better about things." Maya looked like she was about to protest but Josh cut her off. "I slept with you for two years. I think I can tell when you're hiding something." Josh told her bluntly. Maya shook her head.

"Always the gentleman." She said sarcastically.

"Cut it out, Maya. I'm trying to be a good team leader here. Help me out a little." Josh seemed desperate. Maya sighed and moved back into her living room to sit on the couch.

"In about twelve hours, I'm about to be face to face with the people who murdered one of the most influential people in my life. And I have to pretend like they're the greatest people on earth. How am I supposed to feel?" Maya asked him as she looked over at him. Josh sat down on her couch beside her.

"Nobody ever said it was going to be easy. I think that might have been what Farkle was trying to tell you all along." Maya scoffed and rolled her eyes. Josh chuckled. "Look, Maya I dont think that the reason that Farkle doesnt want you to go under is because he doesnt have faith in you, but because he knows you well enough to think that you might have way too much of a heart to be able to handle something like this." Josh told her honestly. Maya gave him a glare.
