“BAKIT ang tagal mong bumaba?”
Napaawang ako nang madatnan ko si Aly na nakaupo sa lobby. Kababa ko lang mula sa office ko at hindi ko talaga inaasahan na magpapakita siya ngayon.
“What are you doing here?” mayamaya'y tanong ko nang makabawi.
Aly smiled awfully at me. “Is that how you greet a good friend, Clarity?”
Kumunot na lang ang noo ko lalo pa nang tumayo pa siya at naglakad palapit sa'kin. I'm not really sure kung saan muna siya nagpunta bago dumiretso rito sa Casa dahil naka-semi formal siya. She's wearing a white tank top, a sleeveless long vest and a gray slack pants paired with her black pumps.
Tumigil sa harapan ko si Aly dahilan para mapataas ang isang kilay ko.
“I just came from a photoshoot for a bachelorette magazine...” paliwanag niya na parang nabasa ang nasa isip ko.
“SO what do you want?” I seriously looked at Aly as I sat on the chair. We're here at veranda because she said that she wanted to talk to me. Kung tungkol saan 'yon...wala akong ideya.
“Nothing really...I just want to check if you're okay. I know you're still brokenhearted on what happened.”
My nose cringed. “What?”
Aly didn't say a thing kaya sinundan ko na lang siya ng tingin nang maglakad siya palapit sa railing hanggang sa sumandal siya roon saka humarap sa'kin nang nakahalupkip.
“Hmm...” Aly eyed me, as if she were to find something on my face. And it's making me feel uneasy.
“Will you stop staring at me like that?” I shot her a serious stare.
She just chuckled.
“What's funny?” My nostrils were already flared.
“It's entertaining seeing your face right now, Clarity. You look awful.”
My expression darkened while Aly continued laughing—amused seeing how annoyed I'm.
“I think if we're still like before, I'll be laughing at you right now. Baka nga nagpa-party pa ako.”
“Kung iyan lang ang pinunta mo rito, you may leave.”
Aly's shoulder fell as she sighed in defeat. “You're too serious. Sinusubukan ko lang naman pagaanin yung nararamdaman mo.”
Nalaglag ang panga ko. I didn't expect it from her.
“Anyway...the main reason I'm here is because I wanted to hang out tonight. I planned to be with your cousin sana, pero mukhang may importante siyang lakad ngayon—”
I cut Aly off. “I refused.”
Tumayo na ako at akmang kukunin na ang bag na inilapag ko sa lamesa pero mabilis na pinigilan ni Aly ang kamay ko.
I gave her a blank stare until she gave me a glum expression.
“I'm flying to Morocco tomorrow for a six-month contract photoshoot.”
Binawi ko na ang kamay ko sa kanya saka nagbuntong-hininga.
“If you're thinking that I might force you to talk about your breakup with King, I promise...I won't. Just go with me. I just want someone to talk to tonight.” Aly met my eyes with desperation in her voice.
I let out a deep sigh. I'd be cold-hearted if I didn't give in at this moment after I caught a hint of sadness in her eyes, though I didn't know the reason...she really should be with someone...
