"Why am I so ugly?" Felix thought. "Why won't they just go away?" he asked as he was staring at the freckles scattered all over his cheeks, hoping that one day, they could just be dirt on the mirror he was looking into. A mirror that seemed to always be clean, since the nurses would clean it every now and then, multiple times a day. Somehow, he had managed to stand up, revealing the rest of his upper body, almost down to his waist. He hoped the sight of his abs would make him think he was beautiful again, but it didn't. He couldn't see past the two huge scars running across his belly and under his arm. How much he'd rather have these in the face. It sounded so weird, sure, and everaone who had scars in their face probably wished for them to go away as much as he wished them to be there, but it would draw people's attention to them, making the freckles almost disappear for everyone. Why did he suddenly think they were ugly? All of his life, people told him how beautiful the little brown dots ond his face and under the eyes were. But suddenly, because he was an adult now, they were considered an imperfection? And again! These ugly dots on his face had drawn his attention to them, completely overshadowing all of the actual imperfections there were on his body. He ran a finger over the more exposed one, scanning all of teh small extra bumps or deeper holes in it. There actually were multiple scars from different procedures: The first one of a surgery he didn't know anything about since it was done while he was in the coma, one of when they had to fix an infection from the first surgery, and the last one was from where his appendix burst and they had to fix him as quickly as possible. He slapped himself in the face, as hard as he could, trying to clear his thoughts. "Why do people love someone as ugly as me? Why don't they just run off screaming seeing my face?" Felix asked, his face remaining straight and serious as he asked this horrible question. "Because you're beautiful!" he heard someone say and the person crushed into his side, hugging him with all their might. "You're so beautiful! Just look at your freckles, they're more beautiful than any star I've ever seen!" Lina said, pressing herself even closer to Felix. "Stop saying that! They're ugly! And you know it too! Don't lie to me just because you love me! You can have those freckles, they'll suite you better." he insisted, trying to push her away. "Maybe if I had them, you'd see how beautiful they are." she mumbled, pushing away from him and picking up a light brown eyeliner she had lying around, starting to draw random dots all over her face. "Stop!" Lix told her and tried to pull the pen out of her hand, but she just continued. Within a few seconds, she had quite a lot of them on her face. After blending them into her skin more, they started to look real. "Look at me. Do freckles make me ugly?" she asked, standing right in front of the boy, spreading her arms while she was waiting for an answer. "Of course not!" he immediately said. "They look very cute on you!" he said and wanted to walk over to Lina and hug her, but he was too afraid to do so. "You see? They don't make you ugly! You're so beautiful, Lixie! And even if you weren't, I would still love you, because of your personality. Don't think you're ugly." she said and hugged her boyfriend tight.
