The door suddenly opened and the clicking sound of heels on stone approached the teenagers. "Kids? I'm home!" Sharon called from the hallway, placing her keys on a drawer. "Kids? What's that smell?" Felix quickly grabbed a tissue, wiping his mouth, before wheeling into the bathroom. "I'm on the toilet mum!" He yelled as he pulled his hoodie off his body and grabbed a t-shirt. "Mum?" A quiet voice, that of a slightly older woman and easily recognisable to lix, repeated in slight shock. "Mummy?!" The guy shouted in response, barely putting on his shirt before hurrying back into the kitchen, where three females were giggling. And there she was. His mum! His real one! The one he'd cried about just a couple of hours ago, before Chris paid him a visit. "Eomma!" He called out and wheeled into her, holding her tight by the waist.  "Mummy I missed you so much! I thought you were never gonna come." He muffled into her shirt, trying his hardest not to tear up. "Mum missed you too, sweetheart. And mum will always come back to you, remember that. I love you more than anything." She said and ran her fingers through his hair, carefully massaging his scalp just like she used to when he was little and couldn't sleep. Everything will be okay now, mum's here. Lix thought and slightly purred out of happiness. "Look at me, Felix. Look how thin you are!" His mum said as she gently pushed him away, not letting go of her son's shoulders. "Yeah, but, don't worry! I'll gain weight really quickly and then everything will be normal! I love you so much mummy!" Felix said and again hugged the elderly woman. She also had lost a lot of weight, he could feel that. Or maybe he had just grown, he was somehow still a child after all. 18, yeah, that's seemed plausible that he would still be in his growing phase. "It smells really good! What's that food?" "Oh it's Bulgogi, it's basically spicy beef, and I added some noodles and kimchi. I don't know if you've had that before, but mine might taste slightly different, because I left out a little bit of the spices." Sharon and Li started talking as mother and son kept hugging. Lix was so so so so happy that his mum was there, all of his pain was gone and forgotten, as if nothing had ever happened. He'd never been so happy and so careless, never. "Let's wait for Phil and then eat." The younger woman said and went back into the hallway to take off her shoes, while Lix just would not let go of his mother. He felt that if he was to let go, she would be gone instantly, never to be seen again. "Sweetheart can you let go of mum for a second? I have to take off my shoes and jacket as well." She said, but her son hugged her tighter. He wouldn't let go, until he was pushed away and stared as the woman vanished into the hallway. Felix wanted to go after her, but Li held him by one of the handles of the wheelchair. The boy pouted at his fiance, begging her to let go. "Mum is still here sweetheart, I'm not going anywhere!" His mum called out from the hallway, somehow making him want to hug her even more. "Shhhh, she's still here, don't worry." The girl quietly whispered, rubbing his cheek softly. "I know... Do you think I'm too attached?" "Nope. She's your mum Afterall, she's the one who raised you for 18, or 17½ years. And it's been an eternity since you've seen her, so I don't think you're too clingy." She reassured, kissing his head before letting go of the wheelie. As soon as she did, the boy's mother appeared in the doorframe again, him screaming "EOMMAAAAAA!" at the top of his lungs once more. She flinched a little bit at how loud he was, and he cleared his throat out of embarrassment. Felix now wanted to wheel over to his mother, only to notice that his girlfriend had locked the breaks of his chair, keeping him from moving. He wanted to just jump up and run to his mother right away, but he couldn't even really lift himself up by an inch. So he kept jumping in his chair, impatiently waiting to be in the woman's arms again. It was love, of course, but different to the love he felt when hugging Li. It was something else, something much more strong. Something that could only happen between mother and son. Finally, her arms wrapped around the boy once again, him nuzzling his head in between her breasts. His mum asked something in Korean, having Li only respond with a small laughter. "I'm home!" A male, Phil, called out from the hallway with his usual friendly tone, throwing his bag somewhere. "Hi Dad!!" Felix answered and let go of his mother, wanting to go to his dad, but he had to release the brakes first.
"Why did he just call him dad? And why did he call Sharon mum?" Felix's mother asked as soon as he left the kitchen, looking to Lina. She sighed. "Honestly, it's a long story. The best answer I can give is that he desperately wanted a normal family. Not that you're a bad mum, you did a great job raising him and he obviously loves you very much. It's just that he wants to have a dad so badly, that he would've probably just accepted anyone who was nice to him, such as Phil. He just wants a man in his life. And for him calling Sharon 'mum'.... Maybe it's still because he wants a normal family." She explained, trying to be as careful with her words as possible. Sook, Felix's mum, nodded and sighed. "Okay, I get it. I'm just happy that he's not mad at me for leaving him in a situation like this." "He isn't. He's just sad that you weren't there and he missed you very badly. I explained why you weren't there, but I think he didn't understand." Li sighed again, as Phil wheeled her boyfriend, who had the brightest smile ever, into the kitchen. It was a great sight, and her heart fluttered everytime she saw Felix laugh. "Sooooooo!" Phil said as he 'parked' the boy next to the table. "Let's eat!" "Can mummy feed me?" "Feed him? Why?" Sook asked in Korean. "He...he has a feeding tube, he can't really eat on his own." Li responded while going to the table, lowering her head once she had sat down. She saw Lix put his hands on the table, so she grabbed and squeezed them. "You okay?" He said and the girl's head swung up, looking him in the eyes. "W-what did you just say?" She asked, confused. "You okay?" He repeated again. Lina was a bit surprised. Since when did Felix know Korean? "Did you just say that in Korean?" Sook asked, just as shocked as the girl, putting her hand on her son's head, who just smiled up to her. "Yes Eomma!" He happily responded, bouncing around in his chair while making the cutest noises ever. "Oh my boy! Finally! Finally my child can speak Korean! Mum is so proud of you, I have such a smart son!" She responded, kissing his head multiple times. "What did you say Eomma?" The boy asked, making everyone laugh at him. He didn't look comfortable and tears suddenly started to fill his eyes. His fiance quickly held his hands tighter, telling him they weren't making fun of him, just simply laughing. "But yes, I'm okay darling, nothing to worry about." Lina responded and then, everyone started to eat, except Felix of course. He kept looking at Sook and Phil, carefully watching them eat. If he had forgotten how to eat by now? Did he even remember what it was like tasting food? Of course he did. It hadn't even been a full week since he stopped eating for the most part, he sure could remember what it was like. Yet, it was heartbreaking. Heartbreaking to see this guy, who had always been so full of joy and happiness, who was always down for a laughter or just doing silly things, turn into this helpless human being. Li could understand that he was very self insecure, she was too. She understood how hard it was for him, it wasn't easy for her either. And of course, she understood how much he had missed his mum, because she missed her parents as well. She hadn't been able to see them lately. In the morning, when she would go to school, they would already be at work, then, in the afternoon, she would visit Lix at the hospital, and when she came home in the evening, her parents were either asleep or too tired to talk to her. Now, she was on vacation, and technically had a lot of time to see her parents, but she was at Phil and Sharon's house, trying to help them and Felix get used to each other. She liked the couple, they were very nice people and looked after her and her fiance really well, but she also wanted the time with her own family. Even though lix was in good hands now, she didn't want to leave him alone in a new house, with new people and in a new neighbourhood. She knew how hard it would be for him. Even if he was at the hospital, he would see Li almost every day, for at least five hours. Her family lived in seven hills, Phil and Sharon lived in Parramatta. It was only a 20 minute car drive, 40 if she went by bike, but it wasn't easy. Not in Sydney. It would take ages for her to get to them if Felix wanted to see her. Was she babying him too much? Lina was almost certain that she was, but Lix WAS a baby. He couldn't eat on his own anymore, he couldn't take care of himself at all. Or could he? She'd always taken care of everything for him. If there was anything he didn't wanna do or he was scared of, he didn't need to do it. She also almost always said yes to everything he asked. She never really denied him anything. Even if Felix liked it, that wasn't a way to go for long. She knew that the Simons and also Sook wouldn't do that for him, no one else in his life, now or later, would. He always got his will, and that would be a disatvantage, another one, when his real adult life would start. "You have to eat you're thin as well." Sook said and pulled the girl out of her thoughts, pointing to her almost full plate. "You cooked that food, you also have to eat it. It's delicious." The woman said, encouraging her daughter in-law to keep eating. She nodded and did so. After a while of eating, she noticed the only boy at the table kept staring at her food, and his eyes followed every time she put the chopsticks full of noodles or beef into her mouth. It seemed like he had the desire to just snatch them from her hand and put them in his own mouth. As if he missed eating. "Open up Lix!" The girl said after some time, holding a load of noodles in front of the guy. He looked a bit surprised, but obeyed immediately. His eyes grew larger with every inch the chopsticks came nearer to his face, until they were about to pop out of their sockets. Once he tasted the food, it was like he was in heaven. Not only did it taste amazing, but it was a piece of his old life that returned. "What if you throw up now?" Lina suddenly realised, almost regretting to offer him food. *I won't, can I have more noodles please?" He asked and once again got his will. "Don't overeat." Phil coldly said from his seat, his tone sounding much more cold than usual. It seemed like it was a bad day for everyone but Felix, who was still excitedly chewing his noodles. "I won't!" The boy responded, his mouth filled to the brim with food. Li was surprised that he could eat now, since when he first smelled the food, he threw up immediately. But she was more happy than anything else. "I'm really tired now..." Lix said and yawned while already loosening the brakes of his chair. "I'll bring you to bed." "Yes me too, I need to show you something." Sook and Phil said to the boy, the woman grabbing the handles of his wheelchair while she waited for Lina to also follow them. Phil led them into the hallway, to a door that neither of the teens had noticed was there before. "Go in." He said while slightly opening it, waiting for lix to get a hold of the handle. When he did, the door flung open and revealed a freshly painted and decorated room, the walls coloured in either blue or black and the floor made out of dark wood. It looked just like an average room for a teen, posters of Minecraft and league of legends decorating the rather dark walls, accompanied by a huge plushie of toothless from how to train your dragon, that was placed between a shelf and a desk with Felix's laptop on it. Most importantly though, the bed looked big enough for two people to fit on it. "That's your room, Lix." His mother said, as the guy stared in awe, thinking this was all a dream. "Thanks!! I'll thank you more later, I can barely keep my eyes open." He thanked and bowed a little bit for some reason. Sook ended up having to bring her son to sleep, because he wouldn't even close his eyes without being sure she'd stay there, and she also had to promise him many times that she'd be there when he wakes up.
