„Felix Lee! You're going in there with Lina now! No buts!" his mother screamed at the teenager. I was going to have a piano lesson, with the same teacher Felix used to go to. And Ms Lee wanted her son to get back into music. Probably because she didn't know how hard it was for him. It wasn't like he didn't want to do music again, in fact, he'd love to, but, he can neither dance nor play the piano or guitar while he is in this condition. I wanted to stop Ms Lee from yelling, but was afraid that I would make everything even worse. As soon as I saw that Felix was on the brink of tears, I grabbed him in his wheelchair and wheeled him inside. „Felix" I said and kneeled down in front of the teenager „you don't have to go inside with me. I just wanted your mum to stop yelling at you. You don't have to cry again. But you can listen to my lesson." He nodded and wheeled himself to the door. „It's alright. I'm going to go in with you, and, maybe I'll play a bit, too." The door opened and the surprised face of Mr Murray looked at the both of us. „Wow! Felix? Nice to see you!" the man in his 30s said and stood up from his chair. „You can stay there, Mr Murray. Can you just give me a chair? Mine is a whole bit uncomfortable." I got Lix a chair, helped him sit down in it and started my lesson. „Did you practice Hard Carry? Let me hear it, please." my teacher advised and I did so. After we went through 5 different pieces, I noticed that Felix was staring at me the whole time. „Felix, do you want to try something as well?" Mr Murray asked and my boyfriend nodded. He pulled himself up and sat down on the stool I was sitting on. „I can't really move my fingers anymore though..but I'll try it." Felix said and continued to whisper to himself. „Come on you fool, go figure. It's not that hard, you used to do it all the time and almost everyday. Just play one song, it doesn't even hurt that much. It doesn't hurt, it doesn't hurt. You can move your fingers normally. Just do it as you used to do it before." I was seriously shocked at how he tried to motivate or rather convince himself that he could play the piano just as he used to. My boyfriend attempted to play something I recognized as 'Ballade pour Adelline'. You could find out what piece it was relatively quickly, but it didn't sound like he used to play it. Felix just slammed his hands on the keys and buried his face in his hands. „Hey champ, it sounded alright. Remember, you've had an accident and didn't play the piano for a really long time. You'll get back to being just as good as Lina, you'll see. Just stay motivated, like the old times." Our piano teacher said and put his hand on Lix' back, who jerked and let out a small whimper. „Sorry! What did I do?" the man asked and put his hand away. I shrugged and watched Felix hold back tears. „Mr Murray?" I said and stood up „I don't think that we're gonna get anywhere, so.. Am I allowed to go and bring him home?" My teacher nodded. Before we could help my boyfriend though, he stood up himself, grabbed the handles of his wheelchair and looked at me. I looked him in the eyes with a 'you're so insane' gaze, said goodbye to Mr Murray and we walked out of the roon. „Sorry for bringing you here." I apologized once we stood in the hallway. „No! No. It's totally okay. Look at me" my boyfriend said, I did so and he smiled at me. „Do I look like I regret any of this? Because I don't. It was so great to listen to you play the piano. Come here." Before I could process what he just said, I was in the arms of the guy I loved. For the first time in so long, we hugged while standing. It felt like the times before the accident, when he would just crush me in a hug some times.
