2 hours later ~

There was a girl who sat alone. Crying to herself about reasons unknown to others.

She sat idly on the railing of the bridge that lead into town, her body shaking and her breaths shallow.

Hardly any cars drove past due to the ungodly hour it had become. The girl had sat in the same spot for almost three hours; allowing the time to drift off - just like her thoughts.

However, on the unlikely occasion a car would drive over the bridge and the silhouette of a girl was seen by the passengers, they knew not to bother her; because everyone in town knew who it was.

It was Lily Gilbert. And that was her thinking spot.

I took in a deep unsteady breath, the cold air like sharp needles as I inhaled. With a shaky hand I managed to pull my phone from my pocket and dialled Caroline's number.

After four beeps, she answered. Well, kind of.

"Caroline?" My voice sounding foreign and squeaky.

"No, this is Liz. Are you okay?"

I quickly sniffled and gave a weak chuckle to try and convince her that I was okay. "Yeah I'm fine. Where's Caroline?" I asked.

"She's in surgery." She replied after a few beats.

"What?" I said abruptly. "What happened?!"

"She was in a car accident."

"Omg." I began to stress and stood from the barrier.

"Lily, calm down. She's going to be okay." Liz said soothingly into the phone. "Take some deep breaths."

I did as I was told and calmed down.

"I'm on my way." I told her before hanging up and running back to my car.

How could I have been so selfish? I was there, mopping around whilst my best friend was severely injured and in surgery.

I drove as quickly as I could to Mystic Falls hospital - maybe a bit too quickly but I didn't care - and parked as close as I could.

I ran through the halls, bumping into anyone who got in my way.

"Liz! Where is she?" I called out once I saw her by the nurse's station.

"She's in here." She told me and walked me over to her room.

She looked so weak and pale.

I began to cry again (I really need to stop doing that, girl bosses are stronger than this) and was pulled into a hug by Liz.

"Shhh." She whispered and rubbed my back soothingly.

I felt another set of pair of arms wrap around me and once we let go I saw they belonged to Bonnie.

"It's all my fault." She cried and gave me another hug.

I did what Liz just did and comforted her.

I couldn't hold a grudge against Bonnie (I can't hold a grudge anyway but that's beside the point), she was doing what she thought was right to protect us and that's all that I cared about.

It became rather crowded when I felt another presence behind me and then another.

"Is there something that you can do? Like a spell or something?" One of them asked, the voice belonging to Elena.
