Duke's party was one of the highlights leading up to Christmas. I would've been enjoying it if I hadn't been dragged into helping save a vampire that's been stuck under a burnt church for 150 something years.

You don't hear that everyday.

The party happened to be in the woods near the cemetery so if I did want to ditch the reunion I could go to the party and get absolutely hammered.

However, the down side of the location and timing was that there could be a witness to what we were going to do. Although, they'd probably be too drunk to believe what they were seeing.

"The Duke party. I hope they stay clear of the church." I sighed, walking with Damon in the direction of the church.

Bonnie, Grams, Stefan and Elena were already there and were setting everything up.

"Your hope, not mine." I rolled my eyes but he didn't see because he was too busy looking around.

"Lily, hey." Matt greeted as he walked up to Damon and I with Caroline.

"Hey, Matt." I smiled back.

"Lily, oh my God, where have you been?" Caroline chirped.

She made it pretty obvious when she intertwined her hand with Matt's. I hadn't spoken to him in a while so I was surprised when she blatantly held his hand; and by looking at his face he was too.

"Long story, no time to tell it." Damon snarled at Caroline.

"I wasn't talking to you." Caroline glared at him.

"Sure you were." Damon glared back.

"We haven't met. I'm Matt." He changed the subject and held his hand out for Damon to shake.

"Matt, there's a reason we haven't met. You and I are going that way." Damon replied rudely, grabbing my arm and dragging me away.

I turned my head and winced at the look on Matt's face. "I'm sorry guys, maybe see you later." I suggested.

"You don't have to be so rude." I huffed and pulled out of Damon's grasp once we were out of ear shot.

He didn't respond with a snarky comment like I had expected him to; instead he marched onwards with out sparing me a glance, leaving me to follow behind him.

We walked into the dark woods and found the group waiting for us at the ruins.

Damon whistled to get their attention. "Brother. Witches." He didn't stop to exchange conversation as he walked straight into the tomb. He was a man on a mission.

"You okay?" Stefan asked me when I trudged over to them.

"I just want to get this over with. Are we ready?" I sighed.

"I guess so." Bonnie replied.

We all made our way down to the tomb and Grams and Bonnie began to prepare their spell.

Grams lit the torches using a lighter and as she lit each one, she said a different element.

"Air. Earth. Fire."

"Water." Bonnie finished, holding out a water bottle which Grams took and threw the liquid on the ground.

"That's it? Just water from the tap?" Elena spoke up, she sounded a bit surprised.
