"I've brought DVDs and ice cream so get your ass in the living room before I get Stefan to drag you down there." I smiled as I walked into Damon's bedroom, holding up the gifts in front of me.

It had been a few days since the whole Katherine not being in the tomb fiasco and Damon had been uncharacteristically MIA. According to Stefan he had mostly been hiding in his bedroom sulking, but on the odd occasion he would go to the Grill and get hammered on bourbon.

"Leave me alone." I heard Damon's muffled voice call out - he was hiding his head under his pillow.

"Come on, stop feeling sorry for yourself." I sighed at his unwillingness to move. "Just one movie." I pleaded like a child.

He turned his body around so he was now lying on his back and looked at me with an unimpressed gaze.

"Pwease." I tilted my head to the side and stuck out my bottom lip, batting my lashes.

He looked at me with a cold stare before rolling his eyes and huffed, "What flavor ice cream you got?"

A victorious smile made its way onto my face. "Chocolate."

He got up from his bed and snatched the tub of chocolate ice cream from my hands before making his way out of the room.

"Damon Salvatore zero, Lily Gilbert one." I whispered to myself before following him.

"I heard that." Damon shouted as he descended the stairs.

I chuckled and quickly ran after him, sliding into the living room. Stefan had just got the wooden floors polished so they were perfect for sliding on.

"Home Alone or Elf?" I beamed at him and held out the two DVDs for Damon to choose from.

He slumped onto the couch and put his arm behind his head. "That one." He pointed at the DVD in my right hand.

"Elf it is then." I smirked and placed the disc into the TV.

I lifted Damon's legs so I could sit down on the couch and put them down on my lap.

Pressing play on the TV remote we began to watch the movie in silence while eating our ice cream.

As I sang along with Buddy and Jovie during the shower scene with a happy smile on my face, I couldn't help but notice Damon staring at me from the corner of my eye.

It wasn't a 'what the hell is this girl doing' or 'she's making a fool out of herself' kind of look. In my mind it was more of an admiring and appreciative look; as if it was making him happy that I was happy at the smallest of thing. But maybe that's just what my mind wanted to see.

"BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!" I sang out at the top of my lungs and began to giggle when Buddy the elf covered his eyes and ran into the lockers.

My actions caused Damon's smile to grow. I'd only ever seen Damon smile a few times and they always seemed to make an appearance when it was just him and me.

"Whatcha looking at." I teased as I turned to face him, letting my giggles come to a stop. I raised one of my eyebrows but still had my goofy smile on.

I seemed to snap him out of his trance and he blinked a few times, his smile vanishing from his face.

He then pretended to be lost in thought before he said "I'm trying to figure out why you bought ice cream during December."

I gasped in pretend shock. "Ice cream can be eaten any time of year." I defended my cold snack. "Also, it's the perfect medicine for heartbreak."

Damon scoffed. "I'm not heart broken."

I rolled my eyes at him. "Whatever you say, pal." I muttered while smacking his legs and turning my attention back to the movie.

We continued watching movies for the rest of the afternoon.

We managed to finish watching Elf, Home Alone, Santa Clause and we were now watching 'A Cinderella Story' with Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray.

I know it wasn't a Christmas movie but I was in the mood to watch a cheesy teen romance movie, plus it was one of my favorites.

"Why can't someone do that for me?" I huffed and crossed my arms. We were watching the scene where they danced in the garden at the masquerade ball.

"What, you want someone to fall in love with you over text and have no idea who you are in real life even though it's blatantly obvious?" Damon scoffed, running a hand over his face at the last sentence. "If that's the case then you'd be dating an idiot."

"No." I scolded lightly and rolled my eyes. "I want a guy to fall in love with me not just because of my looks but because of who I really am." I said in a dreamy voice. The reason I want that is because I literally have a carbon copy of myself - and apparently there's another one of me that's been walking around for over 500 years. If they only care about looks then they'd also find Elena and Katherine attractive and I wasn't really into incest threesomes.

"Also, I want a guy to grow a pair and ask me to slow dance under the stars." I sighed pleasantly and lent my head back to rest on the back of the couch, closing my eyes.

Damon didn't respond, instead he swung his legs off my lap and onto the floor, then proceeded to stand up.

A part of me was praying that he would ask me to dance. But my dream crumbled when he walked over to the table where he kept his precious bourbon.

"Bourbon?" He asked me. I turned my head to face him and saw he had one of his brows raised and he was holding out a half filled glass of bourbon.

"Minor." I pointed to myself and slumped deeper into the couch.

I don't know why I felt so crushed. He wouldn't like me like that. And I had no reason to believe he would.

"That didn't stop you in Atlanta."

I rolled my eyes although he couldn't see.

"I should get going. Elena's probably wondering where I am." I got up from the couch and made my way to the front door.

I slid on my shoes and put on my jacket that was hanging up on the banister of the stairs.

"Goodnight, Damon." I smiled at him and got my car keys out of my bag.

"Goodnight, Lily." He replied softly, also with a smile on his face - but in true Damon style it was very discrete.

As I walked out the door I heard him speak up.

"Oh and Lily?"

I poked my head through the door. "Yeah?"

"Thank you for today." He nodded.

The smile grew on my face and I nodded my head back. "Anytime."

I got into my car and drove home.

Damon Salvatore really said 'thank you'. This Katherine fiasco really must be messing with his head.

A/N

So the second part of season 1 is complete :). I read somewhere that Christmas was in between episode 14 and 15 so the main story line is on hold while I write the Christmas specials. I've had the idea for the next chapter in my mind for ages and I can't wait to finally write it!

Thank you for reading :)
