"Jeremy, hurry your ass up and get down these stairs before we leave without you." I shouted to my little brother as I begrudgingly made my way to the front door, mentally preparing myself for the school day.

"Walking out the door now." Elena shouted up to him after we heard no sudden movements coming from above.

"You forgot this." Jenna hurried over to Elena and gave her her textbook as I opened the front door.

I stood there - frozen. My face held no emotion as I was way too shocked.

"No." I grimaced, finally leaving my daze and slammed the door shut.

"Lily?" Elena looked at me with her brows furrowed, a questioning look on her face.

I quickly locked the door. "Quickly get the back door, he might sneak in that way."

I pushed Elena back from the door so I was able to get to the wooden cabinet.

"Lily, what are you doing?" Jenna asked with the same questionable look on her face, as I pushed the cabinet in front of the door.

"Elena, do we have any holy water?"

She blinked her eyes at me for a few moments as if I was acting like a complete weirdo. Which I wasn't. My behaviour was perfectly appropriate.

"Oh come on. We need to get to school." Elena rolled her eyes at me and pushed me out of the way. I would've attempted to stop her but Jenna grabbed me from behind.

She opened the door and it was still there.

"Elena." They smiled.

"Uncle John. Hi." Elena replied, faking her politeness and enthusiasm.

"Jenna. Lily." John's smile faltered  when he greeted us.

"John, you made it." Jenna faked excitement but let the surprise seep through her tone.

I looked at her as if she had just said Chris Evans was ugly.

"You invited him?!" I whispered through gritted teeth.

"Said I'd be in by noon." He nodded, discarding what I'd just said.

"Oh, what you say and do are typically two different things."

Jenna finally let me go as John stepped into the house.

"Uncle John. What's up." Jeremy said casually, walking down the stairs like he had all the time in the world.

If he had been downstairs on time then maybe we would've missed this awful surprise visit.

"Hey. I had some business in town. I thought a visit was in order."

"How long you staying?" Elena asked - all of us dreading the answer.

"I don't know yet."

"Well in that case, it was nice seeing you. Have a safe journey home." I fake smiled and pushed him out of the house.

"Lily." Jenna scolded, but I could tell she was thinking of doing the exact same thing.

"Come on, Lily, let's get to school." Elena interrupted my little death stare-down as she linked arms with me and pulled me down the steps. "We'll see you later."

I spent the day sulking.

Freaking Uncle John thinks he can come back and start his shit all over again. I think not.
