"Hey Jer, how are you?" I asked my younger brother, my head poking through the small crack in the door to his bedroom.

We hadn't really spoken in a while which had never really happened before; we'd always been super close growing up but now, with everything going on, we've drifted apart. However, I was going to do something about it.

He ignored me and carried on watching his computer screen.

Oh yeah. Did I forget to mention he was also mad at me? This was going to take a bit more effort.

I walked into his room and sat at the end of his bed, the both of us sitting in silence for a moment.

"What do you want?" He sighed, he was trying his hardest to sound annoyed or irked but I knew he was only putting it on.

I swivelled his gaming chair around so it faced me. "I wanna apologise for keeping all these secrets from you and to say sorry for what happened to Vicki, neither of you deserved that and I wanna say I'm sorry." I said sincerely, not breaking eye contact to make sure he could see how sorry I was. "We should have told you sooner. I should have told you sooner."

"You know it's going to take a lot more than a 'sorry' for me to forgive you." He deadpanned.

"I know." I replied. "But I've got to start somewhere."

After a few beats he nodded his head.

I stood up from my the bed and walked to the door; before I could leave however, I turned around. "Jeremy?"

He turned to face me again and looked at me expectantly.

"Wanna go get some Taco Bell or something?" I said shyly, hope glinting in the brown specs of my eyes.

A small smile grew on his lips. "Sure."

A huge grin appeared on my face and we both got ready to drive to the nearest Taco Bell.

After collecting our food, we parked up and sat in my car eating in silence.

"I've missed this." Jeremy spoke up after a while.

I looked at him sadly. "Same."

We used to go on drives at least once a week before the parents decided to expire - the majority of the time going for food.

As I reminisced about how perfect life used to be before I knew about vampires or heartbreak or death, Jeremy spoke up again.

"I know I said it was going to take a lot more than a 'sorry' to make me forgive you but I was wrong. I need you in my life far more than I need to be angry at you. You're my big sister." I looked at him in slight shock. "I forgive you."

He brought me into a hug and I felt a bit of normality fall back into place.

We pulled apart and went back to eating our food in silence, content smiles resting on our faces.

As arranged, Damon picked me up at seven and drove us to the high school.
