The next day was a very gloomy one. Apparently it was very hectic during the night with all of the wind and rain. I didn't hear it personally, it's just what Elena told me in the morning. I could sleep through anything. It's kind of my only talent. I didn't even know there were fireworks on New Years Day when the clock struck midnight until I was old enough to stay up and watch them.
With nothing else to do due to the bad weather I drove to the Boarding House to hang out with Stefan.
When I got there I zipped up my coat and put my hood up to protect me from the big heavy droplets of rain. Before I could even walk up to the door Stefan exited the house in a hurry.
"Hey." I greeted him, gaining his attention.
"Oh, hey Lily." He smiled.
"Where you off to?"
"Hunting. Some vampires broke into the house last night and did a number on me." Stefan explained.
"Can I come with you?"
"Uh, are you sure?" He asked warily.
"I'm sure. I'll just look away when you go and slaughter Bambi's friends." I teased and started walking towards the forest.
We walked in silence, the only sound heard was the squelching of the mud under our shoes and the rumble of thunder.
I really had to tell someone about Damon and I. It had been starting to eat me up. I knew Stefan wouldn't like the idea of Damon and I but he was my friend and I had to tell him.
"Damon and I kissed." I said abruptly, stopping in my tracks.
"What?" Stefan also stopped and furrowed his eyebrows.
"When you left for my house on Christmas Eve" I started. "We exchanged gifts and we talked and then that led to us dancing and then we sort of... kissed." I babbled at a fast pace; hopefully Stefan understood me because I couldn't be bothered to tell him again.
"Lily.." Stefan began but I interrupted him before he could scold/lecture me.
"I know, I know. Damon is a bad guy and I should stay away from. But it just sort of happened in the moment." I looked at Stefan guiltily.
He rolled his eyes at me but smiled. He walked over and pulled my into his side as we continued to walk deeper into the forest.
"All I was going to say is be careful." He sighed.
I looked up at him with disbelief. He wasn't going to go crazy at me? Those vampires must've really done a number on him. After a moment I gave him an appreciative smile before deciding to lighten up the mood.
I pushed away from his side and a mischievous grin appeared on my face.
"Last one to that tree has to jump in the lake." I challenged, leaving no time for him to comprehend what I just said as I began to sprint as fast as I could towards the big oak tree; trying my hardest to subdue my laughter.
I could see Stefan catching up to me but I kept going even after he overtook me.
"Not fair." I whined as Stefan got to the tree first.
He laughed at me as I puckered my lip like a toddler.
He picked me up onto his shoulder and started spinning me around, the both of us laughing.
"Uh, Stefan." I said seriously. He quickly let me go at the sound of my changed mood and I pointed behind him where two people were standing.
He instinctively pushed me behind him - protecting me from any danger, but it was no use. By the time he turned back around to search the area for any more possible threats, a man stabbed Stefan through the stomach with a stake.
