The sun glistened through my window causing a kaleidoscope of mosaic patterns to shadow themselves across my room. The only sound that could be heard throughout the vacant house were the thuds of feet connecting with the hard wooded floors and the light flow of music escaping the earphones I was wearing at full volume which blended together with the unmelodic singing from yours truly.
Elena was still in the family lake house with Stefan, Jeremy was with Caroline and Bonnie in the Grill, and Jenna was with Elijah which left me privacy to dance and sing without being watched.
"I bet that you look good on the dance floor, I don't know if you're looking for romance or, don't know what you're looking for" I sang aloud and played the air guitar while jumping from the window nook to my bed. "I said I bet that you look good on the dance floor, dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984, well from 1984."
I was so in the zone that I didn't notice the figure leaning casually against my doorframe with their arms crossed over their chest.
As I finished my guitar solo and started the final verse I caught sight of the figure making my world class performance crumble. "Oh, there ain't no love, no Montague's or Capulets, just banging tunes and Dj sets and dirty dance floors and... oh hey Damon." I said sheepishly and took my earphones out.
"Don't stop on my account, I was quite enjoying myself." He smirked.
"How long have you been there for?" I dreaded the answer.
"Maybe three songs ago." He stated causing my face to fall and go bright red. "I'm only joking, I just got here." He laughed and walked into my room. "I just wanted to see your reaction."
"Dick." I muttered and hit his arm as he walked past me.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing."
"I'm pretty sure you just called me a dick."
"Nope. You must be hearing things."
I knew from the look he was wearing that I needed to run as far away as possible before he could tackle me to the floor, so without wasting any time I darted out of my room. With ease I managed to descend the stairs and run behind the kitchen island so if he went one way I could run the other.
Hashtag: tactics.
The only problem was Damon had an unfair advantage and when he realised what I had done he used his vampire speed to catch me and fling me over his shoulder.
"Put me down." I laughed as he walked me over to the couch and threw me onto it.
He then knelt on top of me and placed light kisses across my jawline until he reached my lips. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer.
Damon and I hardly got any privacy and free time so it was finally nice to just be in the moment with no worries or drama.
Before long I found myself lying on his chest - my head rising up and down as he inhaled and exhaled - as he brushed my hair with his fingers, the both of us lost in our own thoughts.
"What did you want to be when you were little?" I asked him after a while.
"Hmm?" He hummed absentmindley.
"Back in 18 whatever, what job did you want?" I elaborated for him and lifted my head.
"Oh, um..." He thought for a moment. "Well I wanted to be a soldier and then take over the plantation to make my father proud at first, but then I grew up and started to hate him so things changed. I wanted to get away from him and maybe become a banker - it made good money back then and it was a secure job."
