Stefan and I finally got our new jersey's ready for the game tonight. We walked out of the school building and over to the bleachers where Elena was.

"Ooh. Look at you two!" Elena grinned. "Let me get a picture of you two." She got her phone out of her back pocket and stood in front of us. We both put our arms around each other's shoulders and smiled at the camera.

"What happened? No more cheerleader?" Stefan commented after looking at her attire.

"I quit. I'm a quitter."

"No, hey, you're not a quitter. You suffered a great loss. You're not the same person. You should be looking ahead. You should be starting over. Ok? I hope you don't think this is too soon or too weird, but... I, uh, I wanted you to have this." Stefan pulled out a box and opened it, revealing a necklace.

"Oh my God, it's beautiful." Elena gasped.

"It's something that I've had forever, and, uh, I've never wanted to give it to anyone until now. I'd very much like it if you'd wear it for me, for... good luck." Stefan smiled at his girlfriend.

"Is that rose that I smell?" Elena questioned. I took a whiff of the air and sure enough the necklace smelt like a flower.

"No, it's, uh... it's an herb. It's nice, huh?"

"I love it." Elena confirmed. Stefan helped her put the necklace on and I just kind of stood there awkwardly.

I started to walk away but Stefan gently grabbed my arm. "And this is for you." He once again got out a box but instead of a necklace it was a thin, red string bracelet with a small charm in the middle. The gift also smelt like the herb Stefan had talked about.

"Thank you very much Stefan." I smiled and gave him a quick hug. "Maybe this will give us luck in tonight's game."

"I wanted to thank you two for pushing me to try out for the team. It feels really good." Stefan admitted, looking at the ground.

"We're a pair. I quit, you start." Elena joked.

"Right. We're a work in progress. We'll figure it out." And that's when I decided to give them some privacy.

"See you later." I called out as I left them on the bleachers. I turned my head for a second and saw them kiss. Ewww.

The tradition for a new season is to have the football team and cheerleaders sit on a make-shift stage while Tanner makes a speech. It felt really good to sit there and everyone clap and cheer for you.

"Wait, wait, wait, Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait. Let's be honest here. In the past, we used to let other teams come into our town and roll right over us!" Tanner shouted into the microphone, making the crowd boo. "But that is about to change!" The crowd now started to cheer. "We've got some great new talent tonight starting on the offense, and I'm gonna tell you right now, it has been a long time since I have seen a kid like this with hands like these. Let's give it up for Stefan Salvatore!" I looked over at my best friend and cheered loudly. "That have been waiting for us to put a check in the win column, I have only one thing to say to you... Your Timberwolves are hungry." Tanner finished making everyone super hype for the game.

As we all left for the changing room I realised I had accidentally left my helmet in my car so I walked to the parking lot to get it. From the corner of my eye I saw Tyler, Vikki and Jeremy. This wasn't going to be good.
