Yesterday wasn't a very good day for the Gilbert's in relationships. Except for me, of course because I'm lonely. Anyways, we all know what happened with Vicki and Jeremy but last night when Stefan came over to tell us about Vicki, Elena told him that she couldn't be with him.
I tried not to eavesdrop but I couldn't help myself. They both looked heartbroken and they weren't even officially together. When Elena came back inside she started crying and I had to go and console her the best I could. She shouldn't push him away like that, he makes her happy and she hasn't been happy in a long time. But who am I to talk. A great woman once said, 'If you expect disappointment, then you can never really be disappointed" and that's what I live by. If you don't have your hopes up for the best and it doesn't work out, you're not affected by it.
Back to today. Elena and Jeremy were skipping school so I decided to join them. Jeremy was going to help with the Vicki situation at the police station and Elena was going to the boarding house.
She told me not to come with her but where's the fun in that? She was only going to talk to Stefan and see if Vicki was alright and I wanted to tag along. I also needed to see Damon.
I waited a few minutes after she left before I got in my car and drove to the boarding house as well. I drove slow so she wouldn't see me driving behind her and by the time I had arrived, she was already in the house.
I parked my car, walked up to the door and knocked.
"Oh, would you look at that, the other Gilbert twin joins the mission. Excellent." Damon sighed as he opened the door.
"Is Elena here?" I asked him just to make sure.
"Yep, she's upstairs with Stefan." He answered walking away. I followed behind him like a sheep.
"Watcha doing?" I asked him cheerfully. I knew he wasn't going to kill me so I could use that as an advantage - I could annoy him as much as I wanted.
"Getting away from you."
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." I teased and nudged him with my shoulder.
He stared at me which only made me laugh.
"Why are you following me?" He smirked, trying to hide his irritation.
"Why not. I'm skipping school and I've got nothing better to do." I shrugged.
I followed him down to the basement to get some blood bags for Vicki; they were pretty gross to look at. I also followed him to the cellar so Damon could stock up on bourbon in the living room. It was so beautiful, the amount of alcohol in their was a extraordinary.
I kept following him around the house like a duckling does to their mother. Every time I'd get close to him, I'd kick his back leg behind his other leg to trip him up. I was surprised he hadn't reached breaking point. That was until we'd gotten to the living room and I kicked his ankle again, only this time he fell. I couldn't contain my laughter as he lay on the floor. I, too, fell to the floor with my hands on my stomach. God, I haven't laughed like this is ages.
Damon stood up with his back towards me and turned around dangerously slow. The tears in my eyes and laughter stopped immediately when I saw how pissed he was. Oops.
I quickly got up and ran. He chased after me but I didn't get the same vibe as when he was chasing me the last time I was in this house. It was more playful than 'I want to eat you'. I couldn't stop my laughing as I ran up the stairs. I had never been upstairs before so I had no idea where to go.
I didn't stop running as I shouted for Stefan. As I was running, I saw a bedroom that looked like it was in use so I went in there. It had a huge bed and a large TV attached to the wall. I'd never seen a bed so big before. I was admiring the room when I was picked up from behind and flung over someone's soldier. That someone being Damon. I was so busted.

"Who's ready to party!!!" I yelled and threw my hands in the air as Elena, Jeremy and I walked up to the high school for the Halloween party.
Elena was being a bore this year. She wore last years Halloween costume which was a white nurse's uniform with holes in the shoulders and a small hat headband thing to go with it - as her props she wore a stethoscope around her neck and held a plastic decapitated hand. However, I think Jeremy won the prize for least effort. He wore all black with a hoodie which he kept the hood up on.
On the contrary, I saved the legacy of the Gilbert family by going all out. I couldn't let people think we're all boring now. I dressed up as Marty McFly from 'Back to the Future'. I wore white sneakers, ripped blue jeans, a denim shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a red sleeveless jacket and a black watch. Half of my hair was in a bun while the other half was down and straightened. I contemplated bringing a skateboard to pretend it was a hoverboard but I couldn't be bothered to carry it around. In my opinion (which is always right) I looked amazing.
As we were walking up to the dance Jeremy decided to scare some kids walking by, causing Elena to smack him and me to laugh. The Gilbert squad walked in and I was overwhelmed with the scenery. The lights were off and the only think that let you see were the flashing strobe lights. The music felt like the room was shaking and there were many people dancing. I looked around and couldn't help but smile; everyone looked so happy.
Matt spotted us walk in and approached us. He was wearing the same outfit as he did last year as well which matched Elena's; blue scrubs with blood on them, a stethoscope around the neck and a plastic decapitated hand.
"You went with last year's costume too, huh?" Matt acknowledged as he stood in front of us.
"Yeah. I didn't know that I was coming till an hour ago." Elena excused.
"Me neither." He smiled. Awwww cute ex-couple goals. Yuck. He turned his attention to me. "Marty McFly. I like it."
"Well somebody had to make an effort." I said in a 'duh' tone. "I wouldn't be the life of the party if I didn't dress up." I smirked, making Matt and Elena chuckle.
"And you're going as... you?" Matt said to Jeremy. He stormed away like the stroppy teenager he is.
I left Matt and Elena to talk and followed Jeremy into the party.
"Hey Jer!" I shouted over the music to get his attention. He kept walking so I grabbed his arm and turned him around to face me."What Lily? Just leave me alone." He groaned.
"I'll leave you alone as long as you don't tell Elena." I smirked.
"Tell Elena what?" He asked annoyed. His mood soon changed when I pulled out a flask and handed it to him.
"Vodka." I whispered in his ear. "Go easy on it, lightweight." I laughed.
"Thanks Lily, you're the best." He smiled a genuine smile which I hadn't seen in a long time. He turned and walked away.
'Yeah, I am the best' I smiled to myself and walked to the dance floor, grabbing my own flask from my pocket and taking a long swig as I absentmindedly swayed to the music.
