I anticipated Damon to turn up at the bridge and apologise or even just sit with me, but he didn't.

I tried to not let it get to me. He was just going to have to stop being so stubborn and get over himself. Besides, there was much more pressing matters at hand. Especially because tonight was the full moon.

Elijah, Stefan, Elena and I were congregated in the living room preparing for tonight. Elijah was about to go over the plan of action when Damon joined us - his face still looking like a slapped arse.

I offered him a small, tight-lipped smile but got nothing but a cold look in return. Shaking the feeling of guilt, I concentrated on what Elijah was saying.

"Tonight is the full moon. We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse." He started.

Stefan, representing a pointed look, crossed his arms over his chest and repeated what I had told him and Elena last night after coming back home. "Lily, said that the Sun and the Moon curse is fake? That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus."

"Klaus is a vampire born from a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it... He'll be a true hybrid."

"Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today. With Bonnie." Damon shrugged as if it were that easy. I wish it was.

"Damon..." Stefan warned.

"No. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying." Elena made sure to emphasise how Damon's plan was not going to happen.

"I'll write her a great eulogy." He offered.

"Damon, it's not an option." I said with finality causing Damon to sink back into a silent scowl.

"All right, how do we break this curse?" Stefan asked, sensing the need to change the subject.

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know." Elijah answered.

"The moonstone."

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. After that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each."

"And where do we fit into this?" Elena questioned skeptically.

"The final part of the ritual." He began as he took a small, rectangular wooden box from the shelf next to him. "Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelgängers... to the point of death."

Oh how exciting, can't wait for that. Absolutely jumping with joy.

At the mention of death Damon's eyes immediately met mine and for that brief moment his cold blue eyes were filled with fear and sadness. I attempted my best reassuring gaze which was just enough to relax him a little.

"And that's where you come in." Elena said to Elijah who had taken a vile from the box.

"This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina. It possesses mystical properties of resurrection."

"I sure hope it doesn't have an expiration date." I nervously chuckled, trying to make this somber atmosphere a bit more light hearted.

"I assure you it doesn't." Elijah confirmed with a straight face. "There should be enough for the both of you."

"So we'll be dead?" Elena asked.

"And then you won't."

"That's your plan?" Damon scoffed. "A magical potion that we don't even know works. Lily, what if it doesn't work."
