Part 31

"I hate french fries" Latent grudged
"Who the hell hates french fries?" Brezo attacked back
"I do. Since a bad experience of childhood. Never mind"
"Then you must be a very boring boy" Raven pinched
"Never for you" Latent flirted. And I noticed Katie going fire. Since Raven came, Latent has been talking a lot with her and it hurts Katie. Latent too knows Katie likes him and he deliberately puts up the act most in front of Katie to make her jealous.

We are making french fries and pizza today. Kylie suddenly asked
"Alaska, is it true that Riley's sister had a funeral?"
"Yes"
"I never knew he had a sister" Latent said in surprise
"Cousin sister" I corrected
"Great. Raven, take care of the potatoes. I'm coming from washroom" Latent said and headed towards the washroom.
"Okay. Alaska, I have been hearing rumors that you and Riley are dating each other?" Raven asked

The whole team felt silent and looked at me in response. They all knew the answer but it’s mine to tell of course
"Well yeah"
"How could he had the illusion of falling at your hook?"
"What the fuck are you trying to say?" Kylie confronted
"I mean look at Riley. He is talented and so good looking. He has cars, power, house. And look at Alaska. So old fashioned clothes and poor. He should have chosen someone who is good for him. And yeah pretty too"
"What?" my jaw fell on the ground

"Raven stop the fucking mouth. If you utter one more word you will know the consequences" Katie shouted
"Why are you yelling at me girl?"
"Because she is my friend. And you can't insult her. She is far beautiful than any girls. You must have noticed how guys stares her"
"Stop defending her. You must have at least noticed your one"
"My one?" Katie's eyebrows twisted
"Latent. He likes me. He has been giving me attention since beginning. If he really liked you, he would never come to me. Of course someone hot like me will be the first choice. Not a dumb pune like you. Riley will do the same thing with Alaska one day. Mind it"
"Raven" Kylie shouted and other chefs started to look at us
"If you furthermore utter a single word Raven, I will be forced to hand your resignation letter. Guys get back to work" Brezo said in a low tone. Of course, we won't argue with the head of department so Raven stopped too.

We all turned around. In the meantime, Latent came back without knowing any single details, he concentrated in his work. I don’t feel bad for what Raven told me. I believe Riley. He would never do this to me. And Riley loves my old fashioned looks. But I feel bad for Katie. She really likes Latent. But Raven is deliberately trying to make Katie feel low and unwanted. My thoughts broke due to Kylie's whisper
"The bitch is whispering something to Latent. I swear I will kill them if something bad happens with my sister"

I turned around. The girl is drooling in his body and whispering. But I remained surprise when Latent screamed
"Enough Raven"

Everyone turned around and Raven started to look at everybody's eye.
"Stop it Latent"
"Are you gonna stop it?"
"You like me"
"Did I ever told you that?"
"What? Don’t say you like that old Katie. She hasn’t got anything like me"
"She is far better than you"

My heart leapt in joy and I looked at Katie, her jaw dropped to the floor.

Latent came in the middle of our space with a french fry in his hands. He stretched his hand in direction of Katie. And Katie also joined his hands.

Latent kneeled down in front of Katie. And all other chef, including me, Kylie and Brezo except Raven made sounds "Awww"

And Latent started
"Katie, I really like you. I have always liked you. Be mine. Look, I don’t have a ring yet. So, I am proposing you with a french fry. Take it. Please"

Katie's tear has denied to stop. And we all screamed
"Say yes"
"Yes. I will be yours" Katie said in a sobbing and quick tone. She took the french fry and kissed Latent.

And we all clapped louder. It's fun to see Raven's expression. She is ignited with anger. A few moments ago she was so confident about her. But now all her confidence drained out. I am so happy for Latent and Katie.

"So Raven was burst off" Stacy giggled
"You should have seen her" I said
"We haven’t missed it. We will see by the cctv footage" Riley chuckled
"Yeah right. Make sure you won’t die laughing"

Stacy and Riley is droving me home and I have told them about today’s incident. Riley couldn’t stop laughing for few minutes.

"Have you heard from the doctor that was coming to see Emmy?" I asked Stacy
"Yeah, he went through the reports. And he says he would do the surgery after a week. He needs time to monitor Emmy. He is hopeful"
"Yeah I hope Emmy becomes alright" I said
Stacy let a deep breathe out.

We took our dinner and headed back to the room.

Riley catched my waist from behind.
"Turn around" he ordered me

I looked around and he started kissing me. His lips are so soft. I broke the kiss suddenly.
"Riley, I wanna say something to you"
"Say"
"Last night, I talked with Dad and-"
"And?" Riley looked at me curiously
"I told him that I would visit Australia"
"But you said your father betrayed you"
"I am forgiving him"
"Is it that small?"
"Nope. But he is guilty"
"What exactly happened Alaska?"

All memories of my past flooded in my eyes again. Riley observed my silence
"Say"
"It's past"
"Can't I hear it?"
"Yes" I closed my eyes. I haven’t told it anybody. But I trust him.
