[NO ONE'S POV]

"So" Ren wiggled his eyebrows, a smile appearing on his lips. "You got a boyfriend yet?" Y/N stiffened, her cheeks slowly becoming red as Ren chuckled a little bit. "Oh? So you do? Who is it?" He asked excitedly, trying to get poor Y/N to spill the secret. The (h/c) hair girl shook her head quickly.
"I don't, um, yet" She replied quietly and awkwardly. Ren's eyes brightened.
"Yet? So you like someone?" He continued to urge. "Let me guess, it's Shu?!" Y/N stiffened at the sudden guess. Her cheeks were a bright shade of red. "I knew it!" Ren cheered. "I knew it!"
"Q-Quiet! We're in a restaurant" The poor girl stuttered. "Do you want everyone to hear us?" Ren clapped his hand over his mouth.
"Sorry" He whispered. Without another word, he picked up his chopsticks and began eating his sushi as Y/N took out her phone. They spent a little bit of time in silence. The (e/c) eye girl was scrolling through posts on her phone, her left fist was balled up and on her side. "Did you get any word from Free lately?" Ren chirped, breaking the awkward silence that was around them. The girl shook her head sadly.
"No, I haven't been in touch with him since he moved away" Y/N replied, putting her phone down on the table and making eye contact with the black hair boy. "I was hoping you have" Ren looked up at the ceiling as if he was thinking for a couple seconds, then returned his gaze to Y/N.

"No, all I know is that he moved to Spain, I don't think he ever wrote to any of us" Ren frowned. "Which was weird, I thought he was my buddy!" He continued in a complaining tone, earning a chuckle from Y/N.
"Maybe he forgot about us" She thought out loud, grabbing her glass of water to drink. Ren leaned back in his chair.
"I don't know how his brain works" Was what he replied with.
"I don't know how your brain works" The (h/c) hair girl retorted. Before the poor boy could come up with a comeback, Y/N continued back on the topic. " Maybe he just wants to be left alone for now?" She tried.
"It's only been about 3-4 years since we all moved, right?" Ren pointed out, scratching the back of his head. We could hear conversations going on all around the room, the smell of ramen filled the air. "Why would he want to be left alone? we're his buddies!" The girl shrugged. I don't see you coming up with ideas, she wanted to retort. Be instead, she decided not to bring it up.
"I don't know, he was emotionless, it was hard to tell if he was actually having fun while hanging out with us" Y/N took a slip out of her glass of water. Her childhood friend grunted in agreement, folding his arms over his chest. A waitress walked over to them and placed down their bill. As the man walked away, Ren continued with the conversation.
"Yeah, Maybe he just thinks he's too cool for school" Ren pouted like a little kid, making Y/N lightly laugh. "Who does he think he is?" Both Y/N and Ren placed some money on the table and got up. Y/N grabbed her jacket which was hanging on the chair and swung it over her shoulders as Ren reached up to the ceiling, stretching his limbs. The girl followed her friend through the room and towards the door. It was quite windy outside, more windy than before, when they first got here. But the sun was still in the sky, shining brightly against the earth. The sound of people chattering was all over the place.
"That was good stuff!" Ren commented. "We should come back here more often" Y/N nodded in agreement. She couldn't argue, that was place had really good food. "Oh yeah, don't you have a match today?" She almost forgot. If Ren didn't remind her she would have completely missed it.
"no, it's in two days" She replied, shoving her phone into her jacket pocket. Changing the subject, the black hair boy looked around the block.
"So, what's changed here? I haven't been in Japan for a while" They spent a good two hours walking around the city, Y/N pointed from shop to shop, explaining and giving Ren a tour. Nothing had changed in the city all that much, just some old shops were replaced with some new ones, and maybe a new building or two. But other than that, everything was the same. The parks, the streets, everything. Those two entered the final destination of their tour. They stopped at the entrance of the bey park.
"This is my favorite place to hang out" Y/N explained, taking out her bey. Ren smiled and took out his.
"I don't blade in tournaments, but that doesn't mean I can't beat you" Ren smirked. Before Y/N could reply, they hear a sound of a bey launching in the stadium, along with a small sound of frustration. It familiar to Y/N, but she couldn't put a finger on it.
"Who's that?" Ren whispered. Y/N could only shrug. So they moved closer to see who was there, usually, no one comes to the park at this hour. Little kids would be at school, since they still had school today. That's when the (h/c) hair girl spotted a familiar white haired boy. He was kneeling down by the stadium, probably watching his bey. "Isn't that Shu? I've seen him on TV" Ren's sudden whisper made Y/N jump.
"Y-Yeah" She stuttered. Ren wiggled his eyebrows once again and Y/n nudged him, telling the boy to snap out of it. Those two decided to approach him, it's not nice to see a friend and not say hello, right? A friend... yep, nothing else.
"hey!" Ren called, almost making Y/N jump again. The albino stopped moving for a second. By the looks of it, he was about to launch his bey into the stadium again. He turned to look at the two people walking towards him. Y/N gave him a small smile and a wave. Shu stood back up from his stance and raised a brow.
"Hey Y/N, who's this?" Shu's attention went to the black-haired boy standing next to the girl. Ren put his hands on his hips proudly.
"This idiot is one of my childhood friends" Ren looked quite offended with the 'idiot' part, but decided to just brush it off.
"hey there, I'm Ren" he stuck out a hand for Shu to shake. the albino blinked for a second, a sight of jealous sparked in his eyes for a second. The white-haired boy murmured a 'nice to meet you too' as they made their way towards the stadium Shu was practicing in.
"You know you shouldn't overdo it before a match" Ren commented to Shu, who's attention was on Y/N. The girl was staring off into the scenery. "Hello?" Shu snapped back into reality, turning to face Ren again.

"Oh, sorry" the albino scratched the back of his neck. Ren then, once again, wiggled his eyebrows happily.
"You like Y/N?" He guested, careful not to speak too loud, or else Y/n would hear them. The white-haired blader froze for a second, there was blush that appeared on his cheeks, it was definitely noticeable. "You do~" He cooed happily. Shu shook his head quickly to stop himself from blushing.
"n-no" Shu tried to convince the new boy, of course, Ren didn't buy it one bit.
"you just stuttered!" Ren cried, a smile appeared on his face. "This is great! You like her!"
"Like who?" Both boys froze as they heard the sound of Y/n's voice. They both turned to see the (h/c) hair girl staring at them, her head tilted to the side, curious.
"N-No one" Shu stuttered again. He mentally face palmed at his stupidity. Y/N's eyes shown a slight sign of hurt, but then she hid it. It's not like I like Shu, right? She thought to herself. What am I thinking? I can't have a crush on my rival, right?  That's what she thought.
"So, anyone want to battle?" Ren chirped, as cheerfully as he could, trying to break the awkward silence between the three of them. Shu took his bey out from his pocket.
"Yeah, sounds great" Shu agreed.
