It was finally time for the semi-finals. Beigoma was up against Rideout and we were up against [R/T/N] (random team name). It was finally down to the final four, this was going to be interesting. Apart from everything that happened in the past few days, Ren coming back, Akari coming back, Akari hitting on Shu, I felt pretty confident about today's match, let's just hope we don't trip up today. I would really like to face my own friends in a match in the finals, just imagine.
"Are you nervous?" A sudden familiar voice made me jump. Turning around to see Ren, he was staring right at me with his dark eyes. "If so, don't be, I'm sure your team will be fine!" He encouraged with a wide smile on his face. I couldn't help but smile back at him, being grateful to have such a supportive friend.
"Ren?! Y/N?!" A horribly familiar voice made both of us freeze. Just our luck. The one person we were hoping to not run into, in front of our faces. Akari was standing before us, with her eyes wide. She still had her silky hair. She wore a light blue jacket and a white plaid skirt and high knee socks. Her hands here in her pockets. I heard Ren shift, clearly uneasy with the situation. "It's really you!" Was she trying to sound innocent? I knitted my eyebrows together.
"Yeah it's us..." Ren's voice trailed off, but Akari didn't seem to notice because she started babbling about something, clearly "excited" to see us.
"Oh my god! It's been so long!! Don't worry, I've been alright, oh, and I also got a new phone and-" Holy crap. It's not like we asked or anything. I got a quick glance at Ren, who seemed to be rolling his eyes in annoyance. "And~ I think I got myself a new boyfriend~" She sang happily, blushing, clearly not noticing how annoying she was. Both me and Ren froze at the spot. She can't be talking about-
"His name is Shu Kurenai~ He's awesome!" She continued to sing, ignoring the frowns that were on our faces. Ren took my hand and whispered something into my ear.
"Sorry, but we have to get going, Zac is going to kill us if we don't meet up with the rest of the team" Ren excused both of us. Akari stopped talking about Shu at that. She wrinkled her nose.
"Are you two still blading or something? ew" She spat. My anger was clearly boiling inside of me, I balled up my fists. This can't be the same childhood friend I had back then. "It's not like you can beat Shu, after all" Those words stung. It's not like you can beat Shu, after all. Maybe I can't. Maybe she's right. No, there's no way she's right.
"Is that so?" Ren's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. Ren seemed just as annoyed as I was. "I beat Shu just a couple days ago" he announced. He was right. He beat Shu at the bey park when we just met after all those years.
"Liar" Akari hissed. Clearly having enough, Ren took my hand once again and gave Akari a cold stare.
"yeah sorry, we need to go, thanks" He tried his best not to sound cold or annoyed. Before I knew it, I was being dragged down the hall by a very angry Ren. After about a minute of traveling, I finally got him to let go of my hand. Walking side by side, no one made a word. I've never seen him like this before. I thought to myself. Akari seemed to have pissed him off a lot. (He's a Y/N x Shu shipper that's why :D)

"Well, that was, interesting" I spoke quietly, breaking the silence that was between us. "We can't tell Shu about this, it's not like he's gonna believe us, anyway" Ren's head swung towards me, giving me a shocked look.
"Of course he'll believe you! You guys were made for each other!" He protested. My face turned a slight shade of red. Shaking my head, I replied with ;

"Maybe he will, but Akari might make things worse if she finds out we told him" I pointed out. "it's better to just keep this between us"
"Yeah, you're right" Ren sighed as she arrived at our pitch.

"There you are!" Zac cried as we walked through the door. His dancers were stretching and warming up. "We're one person short, Orochi can't make it today" Zac walked up to us, making it more dramatic than it was suppose to be. After a couple seconds of a sad pose, he pointed a finger at Ren. "You must take his place for today!" He beamed happily.

"Huh?!" Both Ren and I exclaimed, completely shocked. Ren was frozen in the spot.
"I think you got it all wrong, I-I'm not a blader" Ren protested. I personally thought it was a great idea, I nudged him playfully.
"Oh quit your jokes, you're a really good blader you know" Ren shot me a glare that clearly said 'you were supposed to back me up here'. I shrugged.
"Brilliant!" Zac beamed with his cheerful voice as he clapped his hands together happily. "We have our fifth blader!" Ren deadpanned. Nothing he can do about it now, maybe this will get him to love blading again. I thought. I would love to see him in action again, It was Ren who made me want to blade, after all. Seeing him back then, battling Free over and over again, the sounds of bey clashing over and over again, training hard to become the strongest, that just seemed to cool to me.
"It's been so long since I saw you blade! And we're blading side by side today!" I chirped excitedly. "This is gonna be a blast!" Ren gave me a weak smile and a thumbs up.

"yeah..." His voice trailed off. He was still shocked about what just happened. What? Did he think he was just going to quit blading and he'll never battle again? He battled Shu just a couple days ago! And won. Akari's words started flooding back to me when I mentioned his name in my head. It's not like you can beat Shu, after all. I shook my head to get the thoughts out.
"Let's go~" Zac sang happily, being the cloud of cheerfulness he is.

-TIME SKIP-

"Presenting... The Silver Stars!" Zac gave jazz hands, preforming the show he always does every time we were to battle in the stadium. "And as an addition to the team, in the place of Orochi, who sadly couldn't make it, we have Ren!" He beamed as crowds roared and cheered Zac's name. Ren shrunk back, obviously taking in the crowd. I chuckled and patted him on the shoulder.
"You'll get used to it, Zac's always like this" I assured him. With this, Ren became confident once again, giving me a thumbs up and a smile.

"Don't worry about me!" He assured me. "I'll be fine!" That's good to hear. I thought to myself, my attention went back to Zac, who was dancing and posing everywhere. I looked around the stands and saw a familiar bey team, and a familiar snow head. Their eyes were wide in shock. Probably because Ren was replacing Orochi today...? That thought came back to my head. Why couldn't Orochi make it today? He usually never misses anything, and he was just fine earlier during practice. I'll think about that later. Right now, we have a match to win.
