[ I got distracted- Sk8 anyone? :D ]
╰┈➤ Two weeks past and Y/N now found herself at the entrance of the stadium. Beside her were her brother Ukyo and her best friend Ren. Both of them were not a part of the tournament and came to cheer the (h/c) haired girl on. Well, Ren also came here to gather intel on different kinds of bladers, he will need that knowledge in his future battles. Of course, her wrist was still in bad shape, but it wasn't as bad as before, probably good enough to just barely slip past nationals.
Barely.Y/N's wrist was still wrapped in a bandage, but she put a glove over it so the bandage wasn't as visible and she wouldn't get worried looks from her friends. Her brother and best friend didn't really fuss about it, since they trusted the (h/c) haired girl. The girl shoved her right hand into her pocket and started to walk up the staircase. She could see familiar faces through the clear glass doors, ones from the team battles, and the rest were from past nationals. Ukyo and Ren caught up as the blue-haired boy reached for the door and pushed it open, letting the younger bladers get inside first. Y/N spotted Wakyia, he had a serious face on. The beyclub members were nowhere to be seen. So they did separate, at least I know Shu wasn't lying. The (e/c) eyed girl thought, continuing to walk through the building, getting a glimpse of more and more opponents. Y/N halted to a stop as she looked up, meeting the gaze of a boy with crimson eyes. The two boys who were walking with her also halted to a stop. The two were silent, they just continued to stare at each other. No one blink.
"Sheesh" Y/N heard Ren whisper to Ukyo behind her. "Intense stuff" The albino lifted his head, breaking the intense stare-off. Shu gave her a small nod, reaching out a hand for Y/N to take. She smiled and took his hand with her right hand, completely forgetting about her injury. The two bladers shook hands, shu not noticing her sprained wrist until she winced. The pain still hadn't gone away completely. The red-eyed rival frowned, raising a brow. Without a word, he removed her glove revealing a bandaged wrist.
"You hurt yourself?" He asked worriedly, tilting his head to the side. Shu continued to examine her hand, He flipped Y/N's hand, so her palm was facing up.
"It's just a sprain, Shu. It doesn't hurt" She assured the boy. Completely unconvinced, he used two fingers and firmly pressed on her wrist, the girl then cringed in pain, quickly yanking her hand away from the albino's grip.
"I knew it" Shu muttered, putting his hands on his hips. "There's no use in lying to me you know" Ren and Ukyo held their breath. "Do you think I'd let you train with a sprained wrist? You didn't train with an injury did you?"
"Well, I let you train and complete wth you were injured" Y/N pointed out. "And I said I'm fine, it doesn't hurt as much anymore" The albino didn't have any more time to protest.
"Can I have your attention" A monotone voice came from the loudspeaker. Silence flooded the room as everyone looked up to the ceiling. "May all competing bladers make their way to the pitch, the national tournament opening ceremony will begin shortly" There was a click after that, indicating that the announcement was over. Quickly waving her hand at her best friend and brother.
"See you!" The (h/c) haired girl called over her shoulder, Shu also walking beside her. The walk to the locker room was awkward and quiet. Not only because Shu kissed the girl walking beside him a couple of weeks ago, but also because of what happened just a couple of minutes ago. Y/N was spaced out, staring at the ground in front of her, watching her own feet walk down the hall. "so..." Y/N decided to try and spark a conversation with the albino. The walls were glass so they were able to see the beautiful sunny day outside, the beach, and kids running down the streets, laughing and giggling. From the trees, it looked decently windy outside, the leaves were swaying gently from side to side against the wind. Both bladers could see their reflections on the glass.
"Yeah?" Shu prompted. Y/N scratched the back of her neck, trying to think of what to say. "Wait hang on" Y/N froze as they both halted to a stop. His crimson eyes were staring straight into Y/N's (e/c) ones. He raised a brow. "Why are you following me?" Shoot. Y/N thought, biting her bottom lip nervously. I forgot to tell him I was also competing as a special recruit! Y/N mentally facepalmed herself, then again, she didn't really get the chance to tell him.[ Because we are built different :D ]
"eheheh well..." A sweat tear rolled down her cheek nervously, snatching the back of her neck. "I may or may not have forgotten to tell you I was also competing in the nationals...?" Shu now had the biggest frown on his face, his crimson eyes flashed the slightest bit of hurt.
"You mean, you didn't tell me?" The albino's voice had a hint of frustration. "You had me worried for no reason then?!" He raised his voice a little bit, causing the girl to flinch.
"I told you! I didn't have time to tell you!" She exclaimed. "We spent the last couple of weeks alone, I didn't want to bother you, plus..." Her tone lowered. "I forgot" Shu sighed, clearing still taking all of this in. His gaze softened and he reached out a hand to touch the girl's shoulder, making her lookup. Their eyes met.
"It's alright, I understand" His voice still had a hint of hurt. Y/N stared at the ground, feeling a little bit guilty about this. "Let's just go, we can't be late" The rest of the trip to the locker room was quiet and even more awkward than before. Neither of them talked nor faced each other. Y/N's shoulder was tense, when was Shu's presence ever this nerve-wracking? He seemed bigger and tougher, stronger too. It'd be pretty cool to see how much his training did for him. She thought a tint of pink appeared on her cheeks. Then she frowned.
"Unlike me, he probably had a lot of time to train" Y/N whispered, unaware she spoke out loud. Her injured hand was clutching onto the tip of her shirt.
"Don't worry about it" Came the albino's voice, making her jump in surprise, eyes wide. Y/N turned to face the boy, her (e/c) eyes didn't meet his, the blader's stared ahead of them."I'm sure you'll be fine, just be careful, your hand is still healing"...
"Alright!!!!" The announcer screamed through the microphone causing the poor (h/c) haired girl to flinch. "it's time for our first match!!!!" Surprisingly, the beyclub sat together at the stands, along with Y/N. The (h/c) haired girl sat in the first row, between Shu and Wakyia. Both boys had their arms folded across their chest, staring at the stage. "It's Valt Aoi vs The scientist, Naoki Minamo!!!" Oh, I've heard of him. Y/N thought. It was said that he cheated last year, let's see if he does it again, and if he does, what kind of trick will he pull? "huh?" The announcer spoke as if he was confused. Y/N and the beyclub made an 'o' shape with their mouth as they noticed.
Valt hasn't walked out of his pitch.
