"No," you spoke up without thinking. "Stay in your village. That's the best favor you could ever do for me." You informed him, raising your hand a bit when he tried to talk back. "My mind is made up. Don't push." You quietly spoke. "I'll do all the dirty business with Sasuke. The only other thing you can do to help is to act like you don't know me if you see me at konoha."He nodded slowly, and you turned to him. "Are you a spy?" You asked out of the blue, to which he froze. "You hate me, don't you? There's no way you'd want to meet up with me. Who sent you?" You asked, walking over to him and standing a few inches away. Naruto laughed, as if he was embarrassed.
"You're so sharp when it comes to these things," he commented, scratching the back of his head before he looked down. "Yeah, I am." He admitted, knowing well he couldn't act. "But I wasn't sent to ask you the question I did earlier, and I don't hate you." He added, looking up.
"Why not? I ruined your life." "You didn't ruin it. You destroyed it. Honestly, I'm still outraged that you killed my family and took the kyubi from my mom, and I'm still angry that you destroyed my home, but what's sitting down and feeling bad for myself going to do?" He asked, seeming unphased by the question. "You sound like Sasuke." You sighed, and he laughed at your words. "It's what Sasuke taught me." He simply said. "And it's what Itachi taught Sasuke.."
"For the person who murdered Itachi, you seem awfully sad about it," Naruto commented, causing you to glare directly at him. "..who told you that..?" You asked, reaching a hand into your pocket. "Obit-" without thinking, at the mention of Obito, you slit his throat, causing him to fall. You frowned.
You turned your head and appeared in front of the real person, which was Shikamaru. He didn't have time to dodge whatever you were about to him, but you simply sat in front of him. "How stupid do you think I am? How stupid do you think YOU are I have eyes to see past genjutsu. Why are you doing something so stupid? What if I were to kill you?" You asked, eyes gleaming, unamused now. Your smile disappeared as you leaned down. The moment he met your eyes, he was caught in your genjutsu. You hopped out of the way, knowing he wouldn't come alone. Or would he..
You slowly turned back to him as he sat there, frozen in place. You put your hands together and sighed, whispering: "release."
He jolted up, gasping in shock as he stared at you. "It's all true," you told him before he asked any questions, crossing your arms. He stared, the genjutsu of what Sasuke told you flashing in his mind. "Now tell me, did you come with Naruto or did you come alone." You demanded, rubbing your eyes. "I came with Naruto. Only Obito knows." He spoke up, covering his mouth as if he was shocked he spoke honestly. "Alright.."
You turned as Naruto walked out of the shadows, brows furrowing at the sight of you. "Hey, hey, hey!" You greeted warmly, smiling at him tiredly. "Was your mission to help or capture me?" You asked him this time. He simply stared at you, refusing to speak. "I hate it when you guys lie." You sighed, sitting down on the branch you all stood on. "That's hypocritical." Naruto scoffed, crossing his arms. You stared ahead, wondering how this blond boy turned out like Sasuke, while Sasuke turned out to be so forgiving, or accepting towards you.
"Right, sorry." You roll your eyes, stretching. "I came to ask why you killed Ita—" Naruto began, only to be cut off by Shikamaru. "it wasn't her." Then, silence filled the air. "Shikamaru, are you believing her over the village?" Naruto demanded, eyes narrowing. "I'm believing her and Sasuke over Danzo," he retorted, unbothered by the challenging tone Naruto gave off.
"Don't you think it's odd that Obito refuses to talk about Itachi's death, but then Sasuke went missing a day before the murderer? This isn't a coincidence. Sasuke wouldn't have betrayed the village without order, and Obito wouldn't have ordered Itachi to be killed." Shikamaru reasoned. Naruto shook his head in disbelief, causing you to laugh lightly, irritated with him.
"Stop denying reality. You're just looking for somebody to shift all the blame to that isn't your friend. You're angry you weren't strong enough so you shift the blame to somebody stronger. When you're weak, you find somebody to blame. When you aren't superior, you find somebody to take responsibility." You snap, glaring at Naruto. "Grow up. We've both lost things. If you aren't strong enough to protect something, you have no right to get mad over it. Maybe if you had more dedication over your strength, you could have saved them. Maybe if you were stronger, you could have saved everybody, but you weren't strong. You were weak. When you are weak, you continue losing things until you learn from your loss, and learn acceptance over death."
Naruto stared at you in shock for a moment before he looked down, and you saw tears edging at his eyes. "Cry all you want.. maybe it'll ease the pain." You grumbled, ignoring Shikamaru as he uncomfortably looked down, unsure of what to do. You stared ahead, sighing. "I know you don't want to hear it, but I'm sorry." you murmured eventually, fiddling with your fingers.
"In all honesty, I haven't lost anybody important." You murmured, trying to convince yourself it was true. "I haven't suffered, nor have I struggled." You laughed, showing a bright smile, before you blinked and appeared in an open grassy field out in the beautiful night. You looked around, confused until you saw the usual two kids.
"Why do you always lie about how you feel?" The boy snapped, towering over the girl as she stayed quiet, seeming to refuse to talk. "Why don't you tell others when you don't want something? Why do you lie about your past pain to make others feel better? Do you think it makes others like you? Do you think it makes you popular? It doesn't. It makes you look weak and everybody will hate you and mock you for it!" He raised his voice, grabbing the girl's collar and lifting her off the ground.
The girl blandly stared at him, before she sighed quietly in devastation. "It's tiring.." "more tiring than being taken advantage of?" Then, silence filled the air. "Stop lying. Come on, grab my hand." The boy sighed before he smiled widely, causing goosebumps to run down your spine. It couldn't be..
"Why?"
"Come on, trust me for once," the boy pouted. "I want to show you hope for once. You deserve some hope in this humanity." He whispered, kissing the girl's cheek as she grabbed his hand.
"Does this involve watching anime?"
"Partially,"
"Oh my god."
"What. You like it too," the boy huffed, murmuring your name just so you could hear, then hummed a recognizable tune you remembered.
"You're going to get that song stuck in my head!" The girl snapped, pouting. "What. It's an interesting song. Come on, sing it with me, please."
"Oh Raven won't you sing me a happy song?" The boy started, and the girl laughed. "Just this once, Takahiro," the girl gave in, and began to sing. Your eyes widened with shock, and suddenly the blur that always covered their face disappeared. You saw your younger self with Takahiro, holding hands in a different universe.
"My home.." you blurted, reaching out.
