I get into the bathtub and lay back in it with my eyes closed. I try focusing on my breath but it's hard. The only thing that I'm focused on is Zayden. Zayden. Zayden. I look at the two bottles of shampoo on the shelf. A brown bottle and a Lavender one. I grab the brown bottle and look at it. It says for men. I pour some in my hand and the familiar smell brings nostalgia.

He marches towards me with the biggest pout on his face. I chuckle and ask, "Now what happened to you?"

"They don't have my shampoo," he whines.

I grab a bottle from the rack and smell the cap. I hold it out to him and say, "This smells like yours."

"No!"

"What's the big difference anyway?" I ask.

"Have you ever seen my hair? Touched it? It's super soft and silky," he explains.

Boy, he has no clue how much I enjoy playing with his hair.

I put my hand through his hair and ruffle it making him whine, "Big T you are tossing my hair."

I chuckle and poke his cheeks. "Okay now stop whining gosh. Here," I tell him and hand him the last bottle of his shampoo that I had already picked up for him.

His face lights up and he hugs me. "You're the best!" He exclaims and squeezes me. My races and I can't control it.

I blink a few times to bring myself back to reality. I can still feel him hugging me but this time my heart doesn't race. It twists in pain like a piece of cloth. I quickly wash my hair and leave the bathroom. I let out a deep breath that I didn't know I was holding. I throw myself on my bed as I burst into tears.

After I pull myself out of the breakdown, I get dressed and crash on the couch to watch TV. Once the movie is over, I have my lunch and then start cooking for the night.

I hear the door open and people talking. I walk out of the kitchen and see my parents. "Hmmm what's that smell?" my dad asks.

"I made dinner. Go freshen up and come to eat."

I place everything on the table and set it for us to eat. My parents walk in and look at the food.

"Oh wow look what we have here," he says in amazement.

We all sit down. I serve them and they start eating. "Hmmm this is amazing T," my mum says.

"Mouthwatering," my dad says with a mouth full of meat.

After we are done I volunteer to do the dishes too. I can see the surprise on my mum's face but I won't blame her. I've spent a year not leaving my room.

"Oh hun, by the way, tomorrow the Fenwicks are coming for lunch," my dad casually says.

My eyes go wide and my heart skips a beat.

"I Uhm I gotta go out tomorrow," I say.

"Whatever it is, that can wait."

Just thinking of meeting them again makes me want to roll in a ball and cry. They were like my second family but after Zayden died, I avoided everyone cause they held too many memories.

"But dad-"

"I know what's your problem but you can't keep avoiding them forever. I know it's too much but you can't keep running from this Teagan. They need you as much as you need them-"

"I don't-"

"You're only saying that because you are scared." He gives me a tight hug and continues, "I know you miss Zayden. We all do but you can't push everything you had away. Plus you and Hayden can become friends again. I know no one will equal Zayden but at least some part of him is in him."
