Open the door Big T. I read the message again and frown. I walk outside and open the front door to find him standing there in a black t-shirt and ripped jeans, looking sexy as ever. The cast is no longer on his legs since it's been three weeks now, so he's all better now. "Didn't expect to see you on a Saturday," I comment.
"Alfonso is back. He gave me a day off."
"Teagan, who is that?" I hear my mum yell. "Lucah! Teagan don't you have manners? Bring the boy in." I move and gesture to him to go inside. I close the door and follow behind. I watch as my parents inquire about his health and well-being. Then he turns to me and smiles, "Let's go out. I wanna take you somewhere."
"Okay. Just let me get dressed," I say with a big grin. I hop to my bathroom and wash my face. I take a pair of skinny jeans and wrestle with it. My sudden burst of excitement gives me a lack of patience to get it on. I end up tripping and falling down. "Oof." I blow the hair from my face and try once again. This time I succeed and quickly grab my jacket once I'm done. I comb my hair and tie it into a ponytail. For a final touch, I apply lipgloss and put all my necessities in my clutch before I exit my room. Lucah has the same knee-dropping smile when he sees me, and we leave.
"Sorry I don't have a car," he apologizes as we get into my car.
"It's okay."
"Get your skateboard. You are teaching me how to skate."
"What?" I look at him in disbelief.
"Get your skateboard board," he says pointing at the board covered with dust that hangs in my garage.
"I uhm I haven't skated in a while," I tell him.
"I'm sure you can," he says and grabs the board. He blows the dust and taps his hand over it. I chuckle and take the board from him. I grab a cloth from the desk and wipe it. "Do you want to break a leg again?" I ask him.
"Yes, Teagan. I want to break my leg."
I chuckle and put the skateboard in the trunk.
"Can I drive?" He asks. I nod and give him the keys. I turn on the radio as soon as we hit the road. Love me like you do by Ellie Goulding plays and I belt the lyrics, " You're the light, you're the night. You're the colour of my blood. You're the cure, you're the pain. You're the only thing I wanna touch. Never knew that it could mean so much, so much." Lucah looks at me and starts singing along. When the bridge comes, Lucah tries hitting the high note, and he ends up sounding like a cock bird. I burst into laughter and he pouts.
He stops the car and we get down. I grab my board, and he holds my hand as we cross the road. My body freezes, seeing the sign on the wall. It's the skateboard rink that Zay and I used to come to. I feel my throat become dry and my chest tightens as we walk inside. I feel people stare at me like they are going to drill holes into me. "What's wrong?" Lucah asks. I shake my head, looking at a bunch of guys skate and do some mad stunts.
"Teagan?" Someone calls.
I turn around to see a familiar figure approach me. Not her. The brown hair girl with a tattooed right arm walks up to me and I awkwardly wave. "How are you?" She asks as we fist bump.
"I'm good."
Fiona Rupert. Tall. Short hair. Badass skater chick aka leader of the group we used to skate with. Also, an old friend. "It's been so long. Haven't seen you here more than a year now," she comments.
"Uhm I've been busy," I lie.
"I'm sorry about that," she says knowing what happened. I nod. "Wanna come say hi to the gang?" She asks. I wanna say no. I wanna run from this place. It just makes me nostalgic but then I remember Lucah's quote from last night: if a place becomes nostalgic and painful, make new memories in it, and maybe it will be less painful. So I agree and follow her. I see two guys and one girl standing between both of them. Raven head, piercing on the lips, tall and muscular: Leroy butler, boyfriend of Fiona. The other two are Mona and Manny: Small framed, dirty blond hair, not so bass ass sidekicks.
