After having breakfast that Paul prepared, I tell Lucah to sleep. “But I’m not sleepy at all,” he insists and takes the plate from me. I grab his hand. “You’ve been awake all night. You need sleep. I’ll sleep too,” I tell him.

“But your parents said they will visit with the Fenwicks.” Ah yes, I almost forgot. Katherine has been chatting with my mum all night, checking on me. She couldn’t visit because of Hope. Bubba is returning from New York today, so she said she will come to visit with him. I don’t know how I’m going to face her after what happened…

“Well, that’s only later past noon. We can sleep now and wake up when they come.” He yawns. “See!” I point.  he bursts out laughing and raises his hand in surrender. He leaves the room with the dirty plates and comes back with a sheet and pillow. He tosses them on the floor. I want to stop him and tell him to sleep on the bed but I don’t. You can’t push him away and expect him to be close suddenly, my mind scolds.

“Call me if you need anything.” I nod and lie down. I turn to my side and look at him.

“What?” he asks catching me staring. I shake my head and turn back to lay on my back smiling.

Upon hearing soft snores, I turn on my side again. His lips are slightly parted and his hair is all over his face. Gosh, I wish I could hold you right now. I reach my hand out but I immediately feel pain in my waist. I wince and pull my hand back. “I love you,” I whisper as I continue to watch him. “I hope you heard me when I said it before because I don’t know when I’m going to get the guts to say it again.”  I slowly sit up and grab my phone. Turning down the volume, I then snap a picture of him. My heart warms and I smile looking at it. A memory for when I miss you again.

I stay awake trying to contact Hayden and Bea but all is in vain. My calls go to voice mail and my texts aren't acknowledged. Don’t come searching for us. We don’t want to put you in danger. I remember the words on the page. I sigh. Right, then my phone vibrates. A call from my mum. I carefully get down and walk out of the room. Even though the wound hurts, I try to ignore it. I close the door behind me and pick up the call. “Hello, Mama?”

“Baby, we are at the address you gave. Which floor?”

   “2nd floor. Door 202.”

“Okay. Be there in a minute.” I hear a voice in the background and then the call ends. I run my hand over my dress and then slowly walk to the door. I open it and stand by the threshold waiting for them. The elevator opens and the four of them walk out. “Why aren’t you in bed?” my mum asks sternly.

“Lucah is sleeping. I didn’t want to disturb him. I’m fine. C'mon in.” I step aside leaving way for them.

Bubba is the first one to react. He wraps his big arms around me and kisses my head. “How are you kiddo? My heart broke when I heard the news?” My heart feels warm from the hug. Oh, how I missed him. I mutter I’m fine and hug him a little longer. “I missed you,” I whisper.

Next is Katherine. I expect her to give me the cold shoulders, but she hugs me and says the same thing like nothing happened. I hug her back happily.

We all settle down on the couch. My mum hands me a bag with food she prepared for the three of us including Paul. Then I ask my parents if they heard from Hayden yet and they all fall silent.

“What is happening, T? I go away for two weeks and my son suddenly left the house with that girl. Katherine tells me she is a thief. You got hurt because of her. I felt like I was suddenly told a movie script on my 30-minute drive to my house.”

I sigh and look at Katherine then back at him. I take my phone and pull up a picture of Bea with her father when she was a baby. I show him my phone. “Who is this?” he takes the phone and studies it. “Ava? Is that the father?” Katherine replies instead.

I shake my head. “That's Bea and her dad. Russell Dawson. His grave is at St. Peter's cemetery.”

“Then who was the man that spoke to me?” Katherine asks.

I start to explain everything that Bea told me about her past, what happened that night, How sacred Bea was, what happened at the police station, what happened with Amelié and finally what took place yesterday. “I trust my best friend and the decisions he makes. Please trust me and trust him too.” I then hand Noah the letter Hayden left at my house.

“Finding this child is my responsibility. I won’t leave even though Bea tells me I should. But you T, I don’t want you in this mess. You have enough to handle yourself. I got this. Don’t worry,” he reads a paragraph. “Wow, when did he grow up so much?” He mutters as his hand goes over his mouth.

“He even went to the extent of telling us the child was his so we won’t hate the girl. But Bea told us everything that very evening saying she doesn’t want to lie to the people who are helping her,” My father explains.

Noah looks at him. “What do you think? Can we trust her? Maybe I should call him home.”

“Noah he disrespected me. He picked her over us after everything we did. Even if Bea is telling the truth, this situation is dangerous. First Teagan. Hayden might be next. We can’t let them be together,” Katherine advises.

“Kat this is our son we are talking about. He gave up his dreams just to make me happy. I will not do that again. If he chooses to fight for this girl, I will stand with him.” Bubba's words make me smile.

“I don’t think she is lying,” my mum replies. “From my experience, I speak. Bea does seem to genuinely be the victim here.”

   Noah nods.

“Noah we can’t be so sure-“ he holds his hand out for her to stop. “I know. I’m going to analyze it before I make the call. But for now, I need to find my son.”
