"Hayden?"
I look up and see Bea standing by my door. I leave the guitar on the bed and stand up. She walks in and sits on the chair. "You play well," she comments.
"Thanks."
"What's the name of your band?" She asks, pointing at the picture on my wall. It's a photo of my three bandmates and me dressed as punk rock stars. "Zombies have risen," I reply, and she chuckles, showing off her dimples."You liked dark music uh?" She asks.
"And loud. It was just the genre my band was accustomed to. I like other genres too."
"Like?" She looks at me, her emerald eyes sparkling as she smiles.
"Something less edgy and loud. Like country."
She nods. "You look nice with long black hair," she comments.
"Yeah, but it wasn't really permanent. My dad hated us to colour our hair, so I usually used washable hair colour."
"Are you still not allowed?"
"I guess. My mum had ice blonde hair. It's kinda rare to be born with it. So he didn't want us to colour it."
"Ohh."
I nod
"Why did you stop playing in the band again?" She asks.
"Well, I took up art and left behind music because I don't think my dad ever liked my music. I don't think anyone did. Only my brother was supportive. Once he died I just felt that it would be right if I filled in his shoes, plus without him being here I didn't feel like getting up on stage."
"You know if you love something you shouldn't stop doing it just because someone else doesn't like it. Your brother might be gone physically, but he's still here. Somewhere out there he is watching you, and I'm sure he would want you to pursue your dreams even if it meant making people's ears bleed."
I chuckle looking at the picture on the wall. I look so happy and free there.
"Yeah but the band already found a new member. "
"You can join another one or make your own band," she suggests, and I hum in response.
"Bea!!" We hear Katherine call.
We both go downstairs and Katherine gives her a small box. She opens it and inside is a silver chain with a clover leaf pendant.
"I got this as a gift. But I never use it. I thought it will look good on you. Please have it."
"Katherine you could give it to someone else. Why me?"
"Yes but I want you to have it."
"Thank you so much." Kathrine nods smiling. "I uhm need to ask you something," Bea says.
"Go ahead."
"Uhm I uhm-"
"What is it love?"
"On Saturday and Sunday, my stepmom goes out. So my sister is alone. Do you mind if I bring her with me only on the weekends?"
"Not at all. Do bring her along."
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" She says and hugs Katherine. I'm taken back by her gesture. I never really pictured her as a hugger. Katherine smiles and hugs her back.
I walk her outside and put her in an Uber before waving goodbye and watching her leave. I wanted to drop her at house, but she said that I'm not supposed to and that if I force her into it, she'll quit. So we both agreed to me getting her an Uber.
