Chapter 17 Teagan

 Chad's wife Anna comes down and joins us. Chad kisses her cheeks and I smile at the sight.

   "I made lunch for you kids," she says.

   "Oh no. No. Our parents made lunch for us at home," I tell her and stand up.

   "I insist. Please stay. We cooked a lot that day thinking y'all will come. Today I did not make much, but we would like it if you two joined us."

   "Sorry about that," I apologize. Then Hayden and I exchange looks. Hayden nods and I tell her, "Okay."

   "Ah, I love this song. Let us dance darling," Chad says and takes his wife's hand. Both start jiving and we chuckle watching them. "Join us, children!" They pull us to the centre and start dancing again. I look at Hayden and chuckle. He starts doing weird steps and I chuckle watching him. He shows me his hand and I take it. Chad and Anna dance while looking at each other with so much love in their eyes whereas Hayden and I kept laughing at each other. I feel so happy and cheerful. For once I actually let myself have fun without feeling guilty.

   After having our tummies filled with food and dessert, we bid them goodbye. We get into our cars and drive. Once we reach the street to head to our house, I stop the car and dunk my head out.

   "I'm going to meet Lucah. You carry on!" I yell.

   "Okay. Bye!"

   "I had fun today. Thank you. "

   "Me too. We should do this more."

   "Definitely!"

   I drive to Alfonso's house and walk up to the front door. I hesitate to knock feeling nervous about seeing Lucah. I hear him yelling inside at the dog and then a thud noise and another. Another one again. What is happening inside? There is complete silence for a moment. I take the chance and knock on the door. I hear another thud and then the door opens. Lucah leans on the wall with his right leg up. "Teagan?" he seems shocked.

   "What just happened?"

   "Nothing. C'mon in."

   "Lucah what happened?"

   "I fell down the stairs while chasing Julie."

   "Oh no. Can you stand? Are you okay?"

   "I think." He tries straightening himself, but he loses balance and leans against the wall. "Shit it hurts. Ugh!"

   "Let's get you to the hospital," I say and grab his hand.

   "What? no! I'll be fine."

   "Yes, we are. End of story," I tell him and put his arm around me.

   "Wow so demanding." I chuckle. "Lemme grab the key," he says. I help him grab the key and lock the house before helping him into the car. I drive to the nearest hospital and stop the car. "Wait here," I tell him and run inside. I grab a wheelchair and come outside. I open the door allowing him to see what I brought. He snorts, looking at it.

   "I can walk you know," he says.

   "Quit it tough pants and get in the chair."

   He chuckles but doesn't stop me from helping him to sit in the chair. I push him inside and tell the doctor what happened. The nurse comes and takes him to the ward.

   As I expect he ends up having an aligned fracture and the doctor puts a cast on his right leg. He refuses to get a clutch, but I somehow convince him to get it.

   After the doctor tells him about the do's and don'ts and all the procedures are done, I get him back into my car. "Give me your address. I'll drive you home," I tell him.
