He was sitting the bathroom, leaning against the wall.
"Now, tell me what the fuck happened?" I asked
"Nothing, I'm sorry they called you and woke you up" he said
"Matthew, I swear to god. You have a black eye, busted hand, you're drunk and bottle and glass broken in your family room" I said
"It's the holidays, what do you expect" he replied
"Matthew, this isn't you. I know holidays can be tough without family, I've know from experience but this is not how you deal with it" I said
"It's just so hard" he said sniffling and looking down to his busted hand
"I know it can be, but you have to push through it. Drinking isn't going to help you" I said
"I know, I have no one. I lost the Aveline's and apparently my father has been out of jail for 22 years" he said
What, I thought his father was still in jail.
"Hey you didn't lose the Aveline's, you will never lose them. I know shit went down but they still love you and if they ever do I'll still be here either if you hurt Julia. I know how it feels to be left out" I said
"Thank you, I'm sorry" he said hugging me
"It's okay, I'm here. You will be okay" I said
"There's more to say but I can't talk about it now" he said
"That's fine, let's get you to bed" I said
I helped him off the floor and onto the bed. I stayed with him for a bit, cleaning up the mess.
My phone started ringing to see it was Stefan
"Hello" I said
"Where did you go?" He asked
"I'm at Matthew's, I'll explain everything when I get home" I said
"What happened?" He asked
"He's in a bad place right now. He's asleep but he's not good" I said
"Shit" he replied
"Yeah, I'm going to stay for a bit to make sure he's okay. I'll be home soon" I said
"Ok, I love you. Text me when you leave" he said
"Ok, love you too, bye" I said
I finished cleaning the place and stayed with Matthew a bit more.
"Hey Matthew" I whispered
He wasn't budging, I checked to see if he was breathing and he was
I put a note on the side table and headed out. I headed back home and on the way I picked up breakfast for everyone.
It was 6:30am when I reached home. I put the food down and see Olivia up watching tv. Damn do these kids ever sleep
"Olivia what are you doing up?" I asked
"I'm not tired anymore" she replied
"You know it's very early right?" I asked
She shrugged her shoulders
"Ok, well I got some bagels. You want one?" I asked
"Sure" she replied
I handed her the bagel and we watched some tv together
"Come on dora, swiper is right in front of you" I said
"Come on dora" Olivia shouted
"Why is everyone yelling" Stefan said walking into the family room
