(September 2023, before twins first birthday)

I have been very distant with my Alessia and Adalene. It was hard to see them because it brought back bad memories, but I had to face them.

I go over to the hotel and met them downstairs at the conference room.

"Uhh thank you for meeting me" I said

"Of course, I want to talk to you as well" Adalene said

"Okay, well lets get to it" I replied wanting to end this conversation now. I asked a couple questions of how long they stayed, why they stayed and why she lied to Alessia. It was hard to hear a lot what they said like how they lied to alessia because to protect her and make Dominic the good guy.

"I've always watched in the shadows, those soccer games I would watch from afar and even after the Aveline took you in I still came and watched the games and I am happy you were able to get away" Adalene said

"Why not be present, why not be in my life" I said in frustration. I just wanted a family, a proper one but I always knew I was a outsider in the Aveline residence

"Because dominic would hurt Alessia, I knew you were fine but Alessia was never. He- he would hurt alessia in ways I never want to think about" she replied with tears streaming down

"How?" I asked

"Not only to me but Alessia as well" Adalene said

"What did that asshole do?" I shouted letting my anger get the best of me

"He would rape me" Alessia shouted. I was shocked to hear it. I went over to the trash can, throwing everything up.

"Give me a moment" I said

I went to a bathroom, washing my mouth and taking a piece of gum. I went back to the conference room, sitting down again

"Are you okay?" Alessia asked

"Yeah" I replied

We continued talking, figuring out more and more and figuring out a plan since they are starting their new life.

"Have you found a job?" I asked

"Yes, we both have. Alessia is working at a coffee shop and I am working at a bank" Adalene said

"Alessia, did you ever finish high school or college?" I asked

"High school but not college" She replied

"Ok, I will help you pay for your college, with the money you earn it can go towards it" I said

"No, no its too much. Matthew you've done too much for us and we can't take this" Alessia replied

"I already made up my mind. I want you to go to college" I said

"Thank you" Alessia said giving me a hug unexpectedly. I didn't know if I wanted to hug back but I did

"You're welcome" I said

No matter how bad the pain was, I've always wanted a family and now I have a chance. Either if its years too late, I still want to try

We finished our conversation an hour later since Alessia had work.

"Matthew, I wanted to tell you sorry for everything. I am sorry for leaving you with Dominic. I am sorry and I wish I can go back in time and fix it." She said
