30 days later
Today was the day Matthew was being released from.
"Make sure the bar is cleared out, hide it anywhere" I said
"Ok" he replied
From experience seeing drugs right away was hard but I slowly got used to it and now I'm fine seeing it.
We cleared off anything and made sure the guest room was ready
"He's pulling up" Stefan said
We've seen Matthew every family weekend that there was. The first week he told us was horrible but it slowly got better. The last week he was there for he was good. He didn't talk at first at the meeting but now he was
We heard the doorbell and we walked over to it. Stefan opened the door to see Matthew with his duffel bag
"Matthew" I said hugging him
"Hey stassie" he replied hugging back
I left go and Stefan gave him a hug
"Hey man" Stefan said
"Hey Stefan" Matthew replied
"Come in" I said
We walked in and into the living room where the twins were laying in their play mat
"My favorite twins" Matthew said dropping down to the twins level
"They missed you a lot" I said
"I missed them too" he replied
"Do you want anything to drink or eat?" I asked
"No, no I'm good" he replied
"How was rehab?" Stefan asked
"Uhh, weird. I mean you are away from everyone. It was good and it helped a lot. I am getting better" he said
"Good, I'm happy you are. If you need anything we will always be here for you" Stefan said
"Yes, remember us black sheep's have to stay together" I said
He let out a small chuckle
"What happened to the bar?" He asked
"Oh nothing, just rearranging stuff" I said
"Did you guys hide the alcohol because of me. I want you guys to know that you don't have to protect me from it. It is fine if you guys want a glass of wine after work in front of me" he replied
"Ok, I just know when I first came back from rehab seeing it would trigger it until I slowly started being able to handle it and control myself" I said
"Yeah, that's what I'm doing to, but I don't want you guys to hold back either. I can control myself" he replied
"Ok, we won't" I said
We all chattered, indulging in each other's conversation. Matthew told Stefan about his father and how he found his sister and mother. He was shocked and angry just like I was.
Matthew went upstairs for a nap and Stefan and put the twins down for their nap.
"We should invite our friends over if Matthew is up for it" I said
"Sure, I'll ask him" he replied
After Matthew woke up from his nap he actually wanted to see some friends.
We invite Lucas, jenna, james, Aaron, Mike, Leo, Lizzie and Zach.
"Ok, so you're fine with them coming?" I asked
