19 YEAR OLD RAFAEL worked in a factory making metal parts on a conveyer belt.
He walked over to the garbage bin and took some defective discarded metal parts and put them in his pocket.
Rafael worked at a desk repairing the metal parts and made some of them into new parts.
He put the finished parts in a pile.
THE NEXT DAY, Rafael went down into a cabin room inside a ship in the market place and sold a bag of metal parts to a black market vendor who handed him some money.
As Rafael walked through the market place, he suddenly heard people yelling.
He looked over and saw Julieta yelling at two Policemen loudly in Spanish—
—"I CAN SAY WHATEVER I WANT! AND IN WHATEVER LANGUAGE I WANT!! ¡¡NO QUIEREN QUE LA GENTE SEPA CÓMO NADAR!! PREFIEREN QUE SE AOGAN PARA NO TENER QUE METERLOS EN PRISION!!! OJALA PUDRIERA NADAR!! ASÍ TENDRIAN QUE METERME A LA CARCEL!! VAYANSE A LA VERGA!!" (YOU DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW HOW TO SWIM!! YOU PREFER THEY JUST DROWN SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WASTE TIME PUTTING THEM IN JAIL!!! I WISH I COULD SWIM!! THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO PUT ME IN JAIL!!)
Rafael watched shocked and he was in awe of her and the guts that she had to tell the Police off.
Rafael then saw the Policemen handcuff Julieta and take her away to jail.
Then Rafael stood there thinking to himself—
—(She wants to know how to swim.)
A FEW WEEKS LATER, Rafael ate his lunch outside of the factory in the food court cafeteria.
There were several lunch tables and tents for shade.
Rafael ate his lunch at the cafeteria table and then he saw Julieta eating at a nearby table.
He went over to her table and sat down across from her.
"Hi Julieta." said Rafael.
Julieta looked up at him but didn't say anything.
Then Rafael tried to say something nice to her and said—
—"I liked when you yelled at the police."
Julieta gave him a weird look and condescendingly said—
—"You 'Liked', when they arrested me?"
"No, no, I mean, I liked when you... never mind." said Rafael embarrassed.
Then he said—
—"What I wanted to ask you is:"
Then Rafael switched to speaking in Spanish so no one around them would understand and said—
—"Quieres saber cómo nadar, ¿verdad?" (You want to know how to swim, right?)
Julieta looked at Rafael shocked and angry because she thought that nobody understood what she was saying when she was yelling at the police.
