Alex, Ana and Leo woke up that morning knowing that today was the day when they would leave to begin their four years of service on the fishing ships.
They got ready, Alex washed his face in the sink, Ana brushed her hair with a hairbrush that Kate lent her.
Leo brushed his teeth and got ready in his room.
The twins put on their socks and their shoes.
Then they heard a KNOCK KNOCK on the door.
The door opened and Kate came into the room and said—
—"Are you guys ready?"
They nodded at Kate.
"Ok, let's go." said Kate walking out the door.
Leo put on his shoes and said to his Mom—
—"Ma, you ready?"
"Sì, andiamo."
Leo was dressed in his school clothes and Adriana was dressed in her Nun clothes and they went walking out of the room to the deck of the ship.
Kate led the twins outside to the deck of the ship and said—
—"All your things will be here when you come back, and just know that you will always have a home here."
"Thank you so much Ms. Kate." said Alex.
Kate took off her navy blue bandana that was a part of her nurse's uniform and said—
—"Here, I want you to take this. If you see my daughter, please give it to her. That way, she'll know that she can trust you."
Kate handed the bandana to Ana.
Ana looked at the navy blue bandana and saw that it had a white medical cross with a bunch of small darker shade of blue heart designs on it.
Ana put the bandana in her pocket and said—
—"I'll make sure she gets this."
"Thank you." said Kate.
"Thank you for everything." said Ana.
"I'll miss you." said Kate smiling.
Ana went and hugged her.
"Take care of each other." said Kate.
"We will." said Alex.
Leo and Adriana came out to the deck and went over to the twins.
Alex and Ana hugged Adriana.
Adriana said—
—"I'll meet you guys at the docks to see you guys leave."
"I'll miss you Ma." said Leo.
"I'll miss you too. Everything will be all right."
Leo turned to Kate and said—
