THE NEXT MORNING, Alex and Ana woke up and had breakfast with their parents at the breakfast table.

They were all eating a bowl of fish broth.

Ana finished her bowl of broth and looked at her parents and said—

—"So, our birthday is coming up..."

"And?" asked Rafael looking at Ana.

"You wanna have a party or something?" asked Julieta jokingly.

"Can we invite Yumi and Leo?"

"I don't know, we'll see." said Rafael.

"We're getting presents, right?"

Alex gave Ana an eyebrow raised look like 'What are you doing?' and Rafael said—

—"I don't know yet, have to figure somethings out first before I can even think about that."

Rafael finished his breakfast and got up from the table.

He picked up his duffle bag by the front door, gave his kids a hug, gave Julieta a kiss and went off to work.

"Bye." said Rafael.

"Bye." said Julieta.

Alex got up from the table and went to the bathroom while Ana and their Mom took the dishes over to the kitchen sink to wash them.

Alex came back into the living room and saw Ana and his Mom washing and putting the dishes away in the cabinets.

Ana stood on her tip toes and reached up with a bowl to put back in the top cabinet.

Julieta then saw the bruises under Ana's shirt and said very concerned—

—"¿Qué te pasó?" (What happened?!)

"What?" asked Ana.

Julieta lifted up Ana's shirt slightly and saw some black purplish bruises on her side.

"¿Te pegaste en algo?" (You hit yourself on something?) asked Julieta.

"What? No."

"¿Qué pasó?" (What happened?)

"Nothing."

"What do you mean nothing?"

Ana didn't answer and Julieta looked at Alex questioningly.

Then Alex said—

—"We got into a fight with some guy yesterday."

Julieta looked back at Ana and asked—

—"What guy?"

Ana sighed and said—

—"Just some guy from school."

"What's his name?"

"It doesn't matter."

"Tell me."
