Daniel Baumann grew up working for and living with a newly wed rich couple in the North part of the city with his parents who were the couples maid and butler.

The rich couple let Daniel and his parents live in a small shack by their house.

They lived a little more comfortable lives than most other people.

While they worked cleaning the couple's house, Daniel's father told him not to go inside the couple's bedroom.

But Daniel was curious and went inside anyway.

He looked at their large books on the shelfs and went to grab one of them.

But his Dad caught him and started yelling and beating him up.

As his Dad was yelling and beating him, the rich Lady of the house told him that it was fine.

Then the Lady began to teach Daniel how to read.

She was a school teacher and she enjoyed teaching him how to read and write.

They formed a close bond together.

She read him the story of Daniel from the Bible which Daniel liked in particular.

THEN AFTER A COUPLE YEARS LATER, when Daniel was 10 or 11, he and his parents were preparing the couple's house for a party to celebrate the rich Woman's first pregnancy.

Then, during the party, a Man who was at the party, brought a gun and started shooting.

Everyone started screaming and running away.

The people stampeded and they trampled over Daniel knocking him unconscious.

When Daniel woke up, he saw the pregnant woman lying on the ground dead along with her husband and the Gunman who shot himself.

Daniel saw his Mother crying while holding his Father's dead body.

He saw the men from the Police investigating the crime scene.

Detective Waters was there asking questions and talking to people.

Detective Waters told Daniel and his parents that because the couple died, they were no longer allowed to live in the shack next to the house.

And they had to leave the North part of the city by the end of the day.

Then Daniel heard Detective Waters asking out loud to everyone in the house who Daniel Baumann was.

Daniel said that he was, and then Detective Waters gave him a Bible with a note that said '—For Daniel Baumann —From Mrs. Morris.'

The Bible came with a note written on the inside cover saying 'Happy Birthday Daniel hope you enjoy reading.

I've had a lot of fun teaching you how to read. –Mrs. Morris.'

Daniel read the note and it only made him sadder.

Daniel and his Mother then went to live in the South part of the city.

ONE DAY, when he came home from school, that was the day when his Mom was beaten up and he saw that she had bruises on her face and asked her what happened.

Daniel's mother told him that Ana's Mother Julieta, beat her after finding out that Daniel had given Ana a beating.

Then Daniel's Mom explained to Daniel that it was not right what he did to Ana and it was not how she wanted him to be.

And it was not how Mrs. Morris would want him to be either.

His Mom explained to him that Ana's mother apologized and asked for forgiveness after she beat her up.

And that he should learn from her example.

Daniel was very stubborn and prideful and did not take the lesson to heart.

A WHILE LATER, Daniel and his Mom found out that the ones who were selling guns to people were Alex and Ana's parents.

Finding out that their parents were responsible for them losing their home in the North and for his Father and Mrs. Morris losing their lives, only made Daniel hate Alex and Ana more.

But his Mother told him that Alex and Ana maybe did not even know anything about that and that he should leave them alone and stop fighting with them.

Because it won't make them have their old home and life in the North again.

And that nothing will, so he should just accept it.
