Mason read the entire message that Waters had sent him.
The message informed Mason that the Leader was lying to him about his family being protected.
It said that "The Protected Families" List that he and his family were on, was a Fake list.
And that the Real list was inside a safe in the Leader's closet.
The message had the combination to the Leader's safe for Mason to find the real list.
After he finished reading the message, Mason sat back and didn't know what to make of it.
He didn't know whether Waters was trying to set him up or if he was telling the truth.
And if he 'Was' telling the truth, why would he go through so much trouble to help someone else when for as long as he knew him, he never did anything to help anyone, not even his friends.
So Mason thought that either Waters actually 'Was' telling the truth because of the magnitude of it all, or if Waters 'Was' trying to set him up, then he would be trying to get Mason in trouble with the Leader and take his Job.
Mason looked at the combination for the safe and thought that the magnitude of it being possibly true was enough to go look into it.
Then he went off to the Leader's house to look for the safe.
Mason arrived at the Leader's house and the Leader asked him—
—"What are you doing here? I told you to find Judith and bring her back to me."
Mason said—
—"I got a message from Waters that said he wants to meet with me and that he has some info about you that he wants to share with me and that he didn't want me to tell anyone about it, especially you."
"What type of information is he talking about?"
"It didn't say in the message, but it did say that it concerns the safety of my family and that their lives wouldn't be protected by you."
"Go meet with him and bring him to me."
Mason then left the Leader's house.
LATER THAT NIGHT, Mason returned to the Leader's house and searched for the safe in the closet.
He found the safe and opened it with the combination that Waters gave him.
And there it was, just like Waters told him.
The 'Real' list of protected people next to the Fake list of people that had Mason's Family written on it.
And it was at that moment that Mason realized that Waters was telling the truth.
Now he knew that there was only one thing he could do to keep his family safe.
MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE SUBMARINE, Ana and Amaia had almost about figured out how to pilot the submarine.
