After Lauren left, Rob sat there with his Mom and remembered the question that he wanted to ask her.
"Mum, Can you come home?" asked Rob.
"No. I can't."
"But wouldn't they come looking for you and me?" said Rob then he quickly realized—
—"Or, my daughter..." said Rob as the dark reality dawned on him that they would go after his daughter and pregnant wife.
"What should I do?" asked Rob.
"You don't need to worry about me. Go home. Your family needs you."
Clare and Rob stood up and hugged each other.
Rick opened the cabin room door and said—
—"Rob, give us a minute, your mother and I need to talk."
Rob went outside the room and waited in the hall for his parents to finish talking.
Then Rick opened the door and went outside.
"Let's go. I need to show you something." said Rick to Rob.
Rick and Rob walked out of the ship and Rick led Rob back to his home.
Rick and Rob returned home and went inside their house.
They entered Rick's room and sat down on chairs.
Rick said—
—"I don't know how much time I have left so I need to show you something now."
"What? What do you mean you don't know how much time you have left?"
"My health is deteriorating. I have cancer. You have a family and children to take care of now, and you're gonna need to protect them."
Rick reached down and removed a rug from the floor revealing a trap door.
He opened the trap door and underneath were stairs leading down into a basement.
Rick and Rob went down the stairs and entered the basement.
The basement was filled with a row of guns, rifles, ammunition, and other gear.
Rick said—
—"These are yours. I'm gonna show you how to use them so you can protect your family and friends."
Rick grabbed two guns and handed one to Rob.
They went into a long hallway in an adjoining room where there was a shooting range.
Then they began to practice shooting.
OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, Rick would show Rob how to shoot the weapons and Rick would return home to be with and take care of his daughter and pregnant wife.
When Nina finally gave birth, Rob and Nina were very grateful that she had given birth to a boy.
