In a post-apocalyptic flooded world, the last remaining humans live on large Navy aircraft carriers huddled together forming a city. The richest people enslaved and oppressed the rest of the masses to maintain total control and power.

When Lauren found the sack of money and the bag of valuable jewelry, she was surprised, but it didn't make her feel any better.
Soon after receiving the money, Lauren became very nihilistic and stopped caring about anything and everything.
She ignored everyone who offered her help.
Any time people came to her asking for her medical assistance she couldn't help them.
Any duties and responsibilities that she felt she had toward the people/patients in need, she would either neglect or flat out refuse to help them because she felt she was not capable of helping them.
She began giving away some of her money to try to get them to leave her alone, which of course ended up having the opposite effect.
She wanted to honor her Mother, but without her, she just couldn't.
She had lost her Mother and her friends Eli and May.
She was alone.
And if that wasn't bad enough, she had later learned from one of her Mother's former neighbors that Eli and May's Mother had died of an illness during the time that Lauren was on the fishing ship.
Lauren's neighborhood depended greatly on her Mother and Lauren felt she couldn't take up the mantle after her Mother died.
It all became too heavy a burden for Lauren that she decided she couldn't live there anymore.
So Lauren left some money from her bag to the people in her neighborhood and went away with the rest of it.
Right before she left though, she hid the bag of jewelry in her room to give herself a reason to come back if she decided to change her mind, which she knew that she most likely wouldn't.
AND FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS, Lauren wandered around the city aimlessly.
When she would get hungry, she bought food.
When she had to sleep, she would pay a family to let her sleep in their house for the night and would leave in the morning.
ONE DAY, while Lauren was wandering, she stumbled back home to her neighborhood.
She had not been back for months.
The neighborhood looked like it was in a state of decay.
A place that used to be vibrant and full of the laughter of children was now silent and empty.
It was a depressing realization for Lauren to see how much of an effect her Mother no longer being there had on the community.
It reminded her of the sad reality that her Mother was no longer with her.
Then Lauren saw a Woman from her neighborhood coming up to her.
The Woman went up to Lauren and begged her to return and help the community like her Mother did.
But Lauren admitted to the Woman that she couldn't do it and that it was too hard for her to bare.
The Woman continued asking and pestering Lauren to return.
The Woman told Lauren that she prayed and prayed every day to God for Lauren to return and for the sick people in the community to get better, which only made Lauren angry at the Woman.
The Woman kept talking on and on about God to Lauren and that he could help her.
Lauren became so angry that she yelled at the Woman 'SHUT UP! THERE IS NO GOD!' which made the Woman silent.
Then Lauren apologized to the Woman for yelling and ran away ashamed.
Lauren went and hid away somewhere.
The sadness of her Mother's death and the guilt she felt about not being able to help people in her community overwhelmed her to the point where she spent her money buying hospital drugs like opium and morphine to numb herself.
Lauren became friends with two young guys who worked in a factory named Tim and Peter and would use opium with them.
LAUREN SPENT THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS buying and using opium with her two friends.
Then one day, when Lauren was taking opium with her friends, Tim and Peter began to overdose.
Lauren saw them overdosing and convulsing on the ground.
She wanted to help them, but she hesitated.
She was afraid of failing.
She didn't believe in herself.
She thought she would make a mistake.
She was high on the opium and did not feel 100%.
She looked at them on the floor and thought that she could only help one of them.
She didn't want to choose.
She wanted to save both of them.
Then she went and began giving them CPR simultaneously by going back and forth between them.
But by trying to save both of them at the same time, she failed to save either one of them.
Lauren watched their bodies stop moving and their eyes roll over lifelessly.
Lauren shut her eyes tightly and covered her face with her hands.
She screamed in her hands angrily.
She slammed her fists on the ground and screamed.
She sat back and felt an insurmountable guilt and self loathing at her failure.
She didn't want to go on living anymore.
She gathered up the rest of her money and tossed it all away in front of a crowd of people in the market place.
As she walked away from the market place, she walked by a Church and stopped to look at it.
She suddenly thought back to when she was a little girl and remembered the times when she and her mother would go together.
Until she had lost faith and decided to stop going.
Thinking about that only made Lauren sadder and hopeless.
The thought of going inside the Church crossed her mind, but she was disillusioned and she walked past it.
She walked as far North East as she could.
She got to the edge of the last ship and looked out to the horizon.
Then she jumped off the edge of the ship into the water and decided that she was going to swim until she couldn't anymore and die.
She wanted to swim as far out as she could so she could get exhausted and drown.
So Lauren swam and swam until she couldn't swim anymore.
