BACK WHEN AMAIA'S PARENTS AND SISTER WERE KILLED, the guards had to pick Amaia up off the floor and drag her back to her room.

Amaia saw the guards put Ana into a different room and locked her inside alone.

The guards put several locks on the outside of Ana's door.

Then the guards brought Amaia into the other room at the end of the hall and locked her inside alone like they did to Ana.

ONE YEAR HAD PASSED since the day that Amaia saw her parents killed by the guards.

During that time, Amaia spent every day trying to figure out a way to get out of her room.

Then, one day, she looked at the air vent and got the idea to get out through there.

But the air vent was too high up near the roof, so she got the idea to make a ladder out of pieces of wood that she would smuggle into her room a bit at a time.

AFTER A FEW MONTHS, Amaia had finished making the ladder and set it against the wall to reach the air vent.

She climbed up the ladder and pulled the air vent off the wall.

Then she climbed into the air vent and pulled the ladder into the air vent.

She crawled through the air vent and went to the air vent in Ana's room.

She got to Ana's vent and looked down into Ana's room, seeing Ana asleep on the floor.

Amaia removed the air vent and dropped it inside Ana's room, which woke Ana up.

Ana looked up at the air vent and saw Amaia poking her head inside.

Amaia put her index finger to her lips in a 'Shh' gesture.

Then Amaia lowered the ladder down into Ana's room and climbed down inside.

Ana looked at Amaia surprised at first and then Ana looked at her suspiciously.

Ana didn't speak, she just waited for Amaia to speak first.

Amaia looked around Ana's room and then walked over to the window.

Amaia looked out the window and then turned around to look at Ana.

Amaia looked down at the floor by Ana's feet and noticed a crack in the floorboard.

Seeing the crack in the floor, made Amaia confirm her suspicions that Ana was also working on a way to get out of her room.

But unlike her, Ana had not completed making her escape route.

Amaia got some satisfaction out of knowing that she was able to find a way out of her room before Ana.

Amaia had been keeping close watch every night to see if Ana had gotten out of her room.

Then Amaia looked at Ana and said—

—"I'll get straight to the point. Help me get what I want and I'll help you get what you want."

"What do you want?"

"I want to 'Access' that computer." said Amaia, which surprised Ana.

Ana looked at Amaia curiously and asked—

—"Why do you want to access that computer?"

"That's not your concern."

"And you need me because?"

"I need you to take the fall for me."

"Why should I take the fall for you?"

Amaia said—

—"After all the times you escaped death and punishment from the Captain, I started to suspect that they were given orders to keep you and your brother alive no matter what you do.

Because they think you might know of something that your parents have hidden somewhere and could lead them to it.

A weapons cache maybe.

I don't really care why or what.

I just know they won't do anything to you.

I'm sure that you've known this for some time too."

Ana Had thought about it, but never really thought deeply about it, so she just kept the thought in the back of her mind.

Amaia said—

—"I want to take everything from them like they took everything from me."

Ana looked perplexed at Amaia and didn't say anything for awhile.

Amaia looked at Ana and saw that she was thinking a lot about it.

Then Amaia said—

—"I can see you might need some time to think about this so I'll come back tomorrow."

Amaia began to walk back to the ladder.

"No, I'll do it." said Ana.
