xcvii. justin's guitar and other assorted weirdness

Aaron, Justin, and I were hanging out at Justin's house. Neither of us had seen much of Aaron lately. He was always with Michelle, and although Justin and Michelle could tolerate each other, they were never very close friends.

Aaron and I were both playing video games. Aaron had picked the game. It was one of those first-person shooters where there main point of the game seemed to be to shoot the bad guys and not do much else. Of course, I was horrible at it.

"McKenna!" Aaron shouted. "You're supposed to shoot the enemies, not the trees!"

"I'm trying to! I'm just not very good at this."

Aaron rolled his eyes. "Michelle was better at this on her first try."

"Stop comparing me to Michelle!" I aimed my controller at one of the enemies and fired, but I ended up shooting an innocent.

"Seriously, McKenna?" Aaron said. "You just made us lose five hundred points!"

"We only lost three hundred," I said.

"Three hundred then. That's still a lot," Aaron said as he continued to shoot down enemy after enemy.

The only that the made me enjoy that game was Justin's music. He had taken out his odd-looking guitar and he played music for us. Sometimes he would play classic rock, sometimes he would play a weird indie song that Robin had undoubtedly taught him, and sometimes he would play a song from another video game. It was an unusual mix, but it sounded cool, which was what we cared about.

"Are you two ever going to stop?" Justin asked us.

Aaron shrugged. "I'm getting kind of bored, but there's nothing better to do."

"There has to be something better," Justin said as he continued to play.

"Can we just listen to you play?" Aaron asked. "You're really good." I nodded. That sounded like a really good idea.

So there we were, relaxing to the beautiful sound of Justin's guitar. I guess you could say we had a pretty fun time.
