xcvi. fog and ideations
I hated waiting for the bus. The bus was almost always late, and we just had to wait for it in the awful weather that was typical of a March morning in Odiosis. Today it was cold and foggy. I wasn't in a particularly good mood since I didn't get enough sleep that night and I still had to wait for the bus. Luckily, Aaron got to the bus stop a few minutes later.
"Hi McKenna," he said. "What's up?"
"Not much," I said, shivering. I glanced at Aaron. He was idiotic enough to wear a sweatshirt and shorts in this weather. "How are you not cold?" I asked him.
Aaron shrugged. "I'm just not. Hopefully the bus will come soon though."
I rolled my eyes. "That's just your way of saying that you really are cold."
"No it's not!" Aaron shouted.
Two bright headlights appeared in the distance. Hopefully that was the bus. As it came closer, I saw that it was, in fact, a bus. It just wasn't out bus. It took a left turn right before it reached our stop.
"Walking to school would have been faster than this," I mumbled.
Aaron nodded. "It totally would have been."
Luckily, the bus came right at that moment. I hopped on and immediately sat next to Aaron. He pulled out his phone and I stared out the window. Not much had changed in Odiosis since the first time I saw these streets, but I had certainly changed. I had not changed Odiosis, but Odiosis had changed me. There was still a part of me that was that scared little girl getting ready for kindergarten though.
It was okay. I would get to school soon.
