xx. autumn leaves and another day at school
I crunched through the leaves on my way to the bus stop. I didn't really like taking the bus anymore. The ride was boring and some of the big kids were really mean. Daddy was at work and Mommy was driving Noah to preschool, so neither of them could drive me. At least I had Aaron.
"Hi McKenna," Aaron said.
"Hi Aaron," I said.
"We're sitting together again, right?" Aaron said.
"Of course," I said.
The bus came and Aaron and I got on it. We both went to the front because the big kids were always in the back.
"I wish you were in my class," Aaron said.
"Me too," I said. "I don't like anyone in my class. At least you have Justin."
"Justin's always reading though," Aaron said.
"I'm glad we have recess."
"Me too. I love recess."
The bus stopped and more kids got on. Some of them were big and some were small. Two of the biggest kids sat down across from us.
"Hey, it's those little kindergartners," one of them said.
"We're in second grade!" Aaron shouted.
"Whatever," the other big kid said. "You're still obnoxious little kids."
"We're not obnoxious!" Aaron said. I just ignored them. Maybe they would go away. "Maybe we should move," Aaron said.
"The back of the bus is even worse," I said.
"Go ahead and move, you little pussies. Nobody likes you," one of the big kids said.
"Nobody likes you either because you're mean!" Aaron shouted.
We pulled up at the school and Aaron and I both went to class. I wish I didn't have to ride the bus. Everyone was so mean. Rebecca and Robin were the only nice big kids that I could think of, but they were on a different bus. They would be in middle school next year too. Then again, so would most of the mean big kids.
I went to class and sat down. I was all alone, just the way I liked it. I took out a book and tried to escape.
