lviii. the last day of school and saying goodbye

Aaron and I walked out the door of Odiosis Elementary School for the very last time. It was finally over. Summer was here and Aaron, Justin, and I were officially middle schoolers.

The bus pulled up to the front of the school. Aaron and I got on and found a seat at the front of the bus. All of the other kids our age were in the back, but they were annoying. Noah was sitting across from us. He was annoying too, but he was better than everyone else.

"McKenna?" he said.

"Yes?" I replied.

"Can I go to middle school with you next year?"

"No, silly," I said. "You still have to go to third grade." Honestly, I was looking forward to not having Noah in the same school as me. It would be nice to not have to walk him to class every day.

"What are we going to do over the summer?" Aaron asked.

"I don't know," I said. "I heard Justin's going to camp though."

"That's no fun," Aaron said.

I nodded. "We'll have so much fun that he'll want to stay next year though."

"Yeah!" Aaron shouted.

"We could go to Magic Fun Land! You know, the new theme park that they're opening?"

"That sounds like so much fun," I said. "Hopefully Mom and Dad will let me go."

"I hope we can go," Aaron said. "There's so much cool stuff."

"Like what?"

"They have roller coasters! And Ferris Wheels! And cool gift shops!"

"That's awesome," I said.

"Can I go too?" Noah asked.

I rolled my eyes. "I guess so." I didn't see how I could go without taking Noah, even though it would be better if it was just Aaron and I.

"You can come, Noah," Aaron said.

The bus pulled up at our stop. Aaron, Noah, and I all got off. Finally, it was summer. I could be free again.
