I still couldn't have Aaron over. It had been eight months since the food fight, but Mom still wouldn't let me see him. I had broken that rule over and over, but it would be nice to make things official.
It always seemed like Mom was mad at me though. Maybe it was because she was mad at Dad, so she was mad at me too. I really didn't know. All I knew was that Mom probably wasn't going to like my idea.
I called Justin. Justin had just gotten a cell phone for his birthday and I had already memorized his number. I still had to use the home phone. I didn't like it, but I dealt with it.
"Hello?" Justin said.
"Hi, it's McKenna," I said.
"Hey McKenna," he said. "How are you?"
"I'm fine," I said. "I have one problem though."
"What is it?" he asked.
"My mom still won't let me see Aaron," I said.
"What?!?" Justin said. "Why?"
"She thinks that he's a bad influence," I said.
"But he's not! So why are you calling me again?" Justin asked.
"I don't know! You always have a plan!" I said.
Justin paused. "I think I have an idea. I learned this trick from Robin. She does it all the time to make my parents do things."
"Well, what is it?" I asked.
"You make a PowerPoint," Justin said. "You know how to do that, right?"
"I think so," I said. "But how does that help?"
"It's easy. You just make a few slides about why you should be able to hang out with Aaron."
"Okay. Thank you Justin," I said.
"You're welcome. Now let me get back to Harry Potter. I'm in the middle of the Goblet of Fire. You know, right after you find out that Mad Eye Moody is actually..."
"HEY! I haven't read that yet!" I hung up on Justin. He did this all of the time. Why can't I just find out the ending for myself? Justin did give me a good idea though. I went on the computer and started making the PowerPoint. After an hour or so, I was finished.
"Mom?" I said.
"Yes McKenna?" she said. She walked in the room.
"There's something I'd like you to see." I ran into my room so I could wait for her to see the PowerPoint. Hopefully it would work.
