viii. dinosaurs and dreams

I heard Noah knock on my door. I opened it, but that was a mistake. "McKenna, McKenna, McKenna!" he shouted. "Wanna play?"

"No," I said. "Go away."

"But why?" Noah said in his annoying voice.

"I don't wanna play," I told him. Really, I did, but I was going to play by myself today. I took out Bronto and Strawberry. They would play with me. I always preferred my imaginary friends over my real ones.

"Hi Bronto. Hi Strawberry," I said.

"Hey McKenna," Bronto said.

"What are we going to do today?" Strawberry asked.

"We're going on an adventure!" I said.

"Ooh, fun!" Bronto said.

I tried to explain the plan. "We have to go through the River of Toys, under the Big Chair of Doom, and then we have go past the Giant's Blocks to get the treasure."

"Okay!" Strawberry and Bronto said.

First was the River of Toys. My other toys were spread out across my room. "Come on!" I said as I jumped across the room, careful not to step on anything. Bronto and Strawberry did the same. "Good job," I told them.

Then, there was the Big Chair of Doom. It was easy for me. I just climbed over the chair and jumped off. I hit my toe on the way down and it hurt. I would get a Band-Aid later. Once I was on the other side, I dragged Bronto and Strawberry across.

The hardest part would be the Giant's Blocks. I carried Bronto and Strawberry to Noah's room. Noah was playing with his Duplos, as expected. "Let's go," I said. "Bronto, attack!" I dropped Bronto on Noah's Duplos. Bronto then stomped on them and on Noah.

"McKenna!" Noah shouted. "I worked hard on that!"

"Well, we need to get to the treasure," I said. "You were in the way."

"You mean this?" Noah said, picking up his fake $100 bill.

"Give that to me!" I said. I grabbed the money from Noah. "Good work team!"

"Yay! We did it!" Strawberry said.

"But Mr. Pickles is going to get his revenge!" Noah said, grabbing his teddy bear.

"Then Bronto is going to get his revenge for Mr. Pickles' revenge!"

"Then Mr. Pickles is going to get his revenge again!"

"Mr. Pickles is on my side though," I said, taking Mr. Pickles.

"MOMMY!" Noah screamed.

"What is it?" Mommy asked. Then she saw Mr. Pickles. "McKenna, give Noah his bear back."

"Okay," I said, knowing Mommy would punish me if I didn't. I handed Noah his bear. I still had the money though, so we still won, at least in my mind.
